Is there any need to wear fur in this day and age? I am completely and utterly repulsed by people wearing dead animal skin, sorry. Back in the old days when that's what you had to do to keep warm--well, that's one thing. But nowadays, it's merely an expression of our cultural narcissism.

I agree it's disgusting. Today there is lot of solutions to keep us warm. In addition, the poor thing wearing fur is ridiculous. Why they tied her arms? Definitely nothing for me to walk my dogs.

I'd think more about actually wearing some of these things if the models looked like they were having fun wearing them...

I would be nice if the designers would actually put on the runway clothes that 'real' people could wear in public.

What about the people who DO NOT want to wear "normal" clothes?? Does fashion only come in one style? I think not. There are actually people who do wear this kind of fashion, probably just not where you live.

Yes, there are people who like dressing like a traveling one-person carnival show---

It is so offensive to be told by the fashion industry what everyone *will* be wearing this fall. I believe the only response to such an idiotic statement is the 4 letter curse word meaning "fornicate" followed by the pronoun "you'.

Yes. Fashion magazines are in the business of selling clothes, shoes & accessories and makeup, and not in dressing people tastefully. People who mindlessly follow the directives of fashion dictators (in magazines and other media) are, to put it nicely, "not thinkers."

Wow, basically in the whole paragraph you have just stuck a label on my forehead. I work in fashion and have been a creator since I can remember. If I design something and someone wants to wear it, that makes them a non-thinker? Fashion is a form of art and yes it is a business. Just like ANY other industry out there with products telling you to buy things. Yes, fashion can be superficial and be filled with label whores, but fashion is also a form of individual expression and an outlet of creativity. There are soo many facets to fashion that you will never know. Is it hard to believe that people want to look out for new ideas because they actually admire a designer and not just to follow trends?

Don't judge me because I like fashion.

I saw Beckham wearing a dress with Moon-Maid stick-out shoulders. I'm thinking the big shoulder pads are coming back, and I have a raft of jackets and skirts I'll be able to take out of deep storage and use again.

Yes. From the 1980's. The shoulders are sticky-outie in order to "balance" the "new" long jackets described with the buzz-term, "boyfriend jacket."

I'm keeping my frocks out a little longer this year. I'll wait for the real folks version of the runway looks which can be very nice.

Fashion is a paradox - people trying to express their individuality by wearing what others decree as being "in."
