Eating red meat isn't so great for the environment. By adopting a vegetarian diet, you'll reduce your carbon footprint by over 5,000 pounds. By just cutting out beef, you'll save about 3000 lbs of CO2 a year. Scarfing down red meat has a huge environmental impact.

No thanks. I will continue to drive a more fuel efficient vehicle and live in a more energy efficient home and conserve and recycle, but I will never stop eating delicious, red meat! Yum!

With so many other options, there is no reason for eating red meat. Nasty stuff.

I became a vegetarian quite literally overnight many years ago (early 1990s I believe). Woke up one morning and told myself, out of the blue, that from this day forward I would be a vegetarian. I've never looked back.

in the interest of heart health I too have reduced my red meat consumption. I still order the steak but I only eat half and send the rest back.

They forgot to define red-meat. Some fish like Dorado are red. Same with ostrich and most wild game. Is pork red meat?

Mmmm...steak....mmmmm....

Everything in moderation.
To say "red meat is bad" with a picture of a hamburger? Well, duh, yeah the burger isn't doing you any good! Now, something locally raised sans hormones, fillers, etc. is alright.
Wow, up here (Alaska) we have buffalo which is fabulous! That these critters are indigenous, too, certainly helps.
Find alternatives, what ever suits you. But "red meat is bad"? I'm not feeling it...

If vegans jettisoned their moral superiority, they might find it easier to convince others to share their views.

Moderation in all things ... so I vary my diet, but I don't find fundamentalism appealing at either end of the political spectrum. A good natural beef ribeye is going to be an occasional part of my diet.

No red meat for me. I don't miss it and am in my second year of it. A few times a week I eat fish or chicken.

It's such a simple change and so much healthier. Do it, people!

Actually, red meat, from animals humanely raised and killed, is healthy. Any study of the harms of red meat, that I have seen, also includes processed meats, and all their additives.

If one were to read Nourishing Traditions, by Sally Fallon, they could see that many traditional diets included red meats and produced very healthy people. This is meat that is carefully raised, not in factory farms, like Smithfield, but by local farms and sold locally.

Also studies have shown that vegetarians do not live as long as meat eaters; an example of this is in India where those who eat a primarily vegetarian diet have about the shortest life span on the planet.

Bringing in the Winston Price kooks (Sally Fallon) doesn't help your case. Their pseudoscience is embarrassing.

Actually, it is Weston Price, and using the terms "kooks" and "pseudoscience" does not provide a strong intellectual or scientific base to your "claims."

I suggest, again, that people get and read the book and decide for themselves rather than be swayed by intimidation methods.

India is your example? There are a lot of reasons that people in India have a short lifespan and vegetarianism is not one of them. How about Japan, where they eat very little red meat? They live longer than we do.

Just a tiny bit of lean red meat once a week. Rest of the time fish, chicken, eggs, and cheese for protein.
