Wanda Sykes, the comic featured as tonight's entertainer at the White House Correspondents' Dinner, took a couple of shots at Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity. She speculated that Limbaugh was actually the 20th hijacker on 9/11 and derided Hannity for not living up to his pledge to be waterboarded for the troops.

Agree with Berrycooda - NO Class! She went too far & so not right for President of USA to be laughing! I am really beginning to see what the people on the right are talking about - media starting to let left get away with anything. I'm certainly not proud about that.

How sad we are as a country, when you consider this set of comments. I see so many words for which there is no sense of wrong in the humor which wishes that another human suffer a condition such as kidney or liver failure.

Brava Wanda Sykes!
Thanks for saying what I am thinking.
Rush is a traitor to America and thanks to free speech you were able to make a strong point.
And when did they pass a law against 9/11 jokes? Yours was perfectly appropriate and thank-you for your good work!

I've only heard Wanda Sikes' commentary on Limbaugh, so I can't speak about her act as a whole....however, based on what I heard, I gotta say she's in the wrong. It's fine to make fun of someone, and even go "blue" in doing so, but she did neither. As a man that fancies himself an amateur comedian, my take is that she just attacked him by employing fighting words. Essentially, she said he's a drug addict (old hat) and that she hopes he d i es. That's not a joke -- that's an attack. It makes people in the room uncomfortable, but not in the Lenny Bruce kinda way, know what I mean? It's more like the "whoahhhh...this person is really angry..." kinda way. Not good if you're a comic.

If you don't like someone because of their message, attack it with more speech. Fighting words aren't speech. Outsmart your opponents, and prevail in the marketplace of ideas. This, she failed to do.

Well, you're an amateur for a reason. 1-- Comedy without an edge isn't really that funny. 2-- You only have a problem with it because she's talking about someone that you like, Limbaugh says worse about people all of the times. 3-- For comment to be considered "fighting words," the potential for the comments to be taken seriously must be present, and everyone knew she was a comic when she walked onstage. 4-- His drug use is still funny and will always be since he's spent so much of his career judging the lives of others, plus her twist on his problems was particularly clever. 5-- Since WHEN have angry comics not been brilliant (Pryor, Carlin, etal)?

You contradict yourself with the "fight speech with speech" comment, because it's clear that you'd really like for people with her point-of-view to shut up. Do you listen to Limbaugh regularly? Do you really think that he exemplifies that ideal?

1) Chris Rock is funny. Larry David is funny. They're both "edgy." 2) I like Limbaugh? No, I don't. I'm not sure where you got that. He's overweight, uneducated, and merely an entertainer for some. 3) So a comic can never employ fighting words? 4) Nothing will always be funny...things get old, and you have to adjust for the times. 5) They were angry, but also funny.

There's no accounting for taste. Don't mix Sykes in with Pryor and Carlin, by the way. The only reason you thought she was funny is because you dislike Limbaugh. Touche.

Why are you so quick to start name-calling (e.g. amateur). Are you trying to cover up some of your short-comings? Wanda Sikes wished for him to have liver failure or was it kidney shut-down. Both are horrible things to wish upon anyone, even your worst enemy. If you've ever had to go through either illness or share someone's suffering, there would be no room for including it in a joke.

But, from reading your prior comments, it looks like you do in fact support Limbaugh.

Compared to a lot of people that post on this message board, I probably do appear that way. In fact, however, I do not support Limbaugh at all.

I wish Wanda hadn't said "Too much?" because she should never apologize for a good joke.

I can't believe the feigned outrage from some of the right wing pundits. PALEEZE, spare me.

And why did Robert Gibbs have to come out and apologize? How wimpy. IT'S A JOKE! A good one!

I applaud the Pres and Wanda for getting up there and rocking the house. It was nectar to my ears.

It's great to see the President make fun of Michael Steele, just pricelessly deliciously funny!

There's so much funny stuff about today's politics. I don't think they've uncovered 2% yet!

I got the feeling it was more of a "too much", - poor babies kind of dig,
not an apology.

Looks like Wanda picked out the best two conservatives, Hannity and Limbaugh to comment on.
There are other greats like Levin, etc., but she probably doesn't even know them!

Is there anyplace on line where a copy of what she said can be viewed? I'm stuck on dial up and the video won't download.

From what little I've heard on the news today Ms Wanda is right on the money. Perhaps she could get a radio show and bring it on.

Limbaugh ignored Sykes Monday on his radio show, and she also kept mum. But earlier, Sykes took offense that she was warned "not to say the F-word or the N-word" before her bit. "They really think I was going to say that to the President?," she told "Extra."

Sheesh, get over it folks. Joan Rivers said worse things about Annie Duke on "Celebrity Apprentice." Limbaugh is an entertainer, and the WHCA dinner is not the Supreme Court. (Somebody stop Hitchens embarassing himself, please!)

If anyone has seen a Comedy Central Roast, they'd understand that Wanda's performance was TAME in comparison. Just jokes people.
