New York Times:

The channel, a unit of Viacom, is supplementing its diet of classic series like "Gunsmoke" with reality shows in prime time. The shows, like "The Cougar," which had its premiere last month, and "High School Reunion," which reunites classmates two decades after graduation, are specifically aimed at 40- to 50-year-olds.

I used to watch TV Land consistently. Over time it became apparent that the channel had lost its way, so much so that it literally seemed to be begging me not to watch it. The shows are constantly bombarded by those incredibly vapid, annoying popups, always promoting whatever's coming next, or tomorrow, or next week. They never seemed happy to have my viewership at the moment, always undercutting my enjoyment of the show I was there to see. I stopped watching cable and haven't missed it at all (except for TCM, but they raised that out of my price range anyway...). Can't these guys figure out that the people who want to watch classic TV are there for nostalgia? There are tons of shows from the past fifty years of television which I would love to see--series and specials that are both fun and historically engaging. Instead, we get vacuous D-level reality programming. If they're losing viewership, they only have themselves to blame. I held on until it became utterly apparent that they only had contempt for my viewership.

TV Land, please do us older end of GenX a favor, and bring back Patty Duke, Donna Reed and Bewitched. Please? Pretty please?

That lineup needs more brunettes. I suggest Natasha Fatale.

Actually, Rocky and Bullwinkle would also be perfect to attract a Republican audience.
Sarah Palin could introduce the Bullwinkle segments, 'cause she knows all about moose, and Joe the Plumber could compare Boris to Barack.

I tried to watch this show. It's amazing that a show full of hot young, buff guys who take their shirts off would fail to entertain me, but it's truly awful.

Embarrassing and desperate. As a 40 yr old I find this show's concept insulting and sad. I wish out society would celebrate wisdom and maturity as much as it celebrates youth. Show me some intelligent grey-haired people whom I can learn something from; not some needy older woman chasing after boys.

With the divorce rate over 50% in our country, I would love to watch a series about older people who've been together for 30 years or more giving their perspectives on what it takes to keep a relationship together successfully.

Television has hit a new low. Newton Minow was right.
