"Daily Show" Mocks Talking Heads For Defending Torture While Decrying Wanda Sykes (VIDEO)

Two days after Wanda Sykes appeared at the White House Correspondents' Dinner and joked that Rush Limbaugh was the 20th hijacker on 9/11 but missed the plane because he was so strung out on Oxycontin, all hell has broken loose with commentators and politicians alike chiming in on why they hated what Wanda said. Frankly, if you took all the offensive things Rush Limbaugh has said over the years and compared them to all the offensive things Wanda Sykes has said, I'm guessing the former would have a much longer list.

Stewart looked at the reactions to Sykes' performance last night and determined that "bad jokes and gay marriage are destroying this country, but torture can save it." John Oliver followed up with a similarly-themed segment, using the language of torture defenders to defend Sykes.

First of all, it is COMEDY. Wanda Sikes is a comedian who is well-known for her edgy (even over-the-edge) humor. Rush Limbaugh has made a career out of saying nasty, ugly, racist things about a number of people. He is now even so desparate that he is turning on members of his own party. I realize that the White House had to distance themselves from the comments Sykes made for obvious political reasons. Beyond that this is much ado about nothing. Her comments do not even come close to equaling the poisonous spew that Rush has been guilty of over the years. And, she has a right to say it and the people responsible for booking her should have known it would be possible that she might say something controversial. People need to grow up. "Sticks and stones. . . ."

I hope all these people who are castigating Wanda Sykes are equally as vociferous in castigating Bill O'Reilly. In commented on a murdered rape victim, Bill O'Reilly said she brought it on herself. I mean if they're not castigating Bill, I would say they were hypocrites. Or maybe they just think that's funny.

Impossible - Conservatives are all double standard. That's why they run to Fox News to make their points, where they'll be unquestioned and pandered to. This is also why Karl Rove is able to criticize the potential choice of Tim Kaine for VP because Rochmond VA was not a "huge area" to govern, yet fall all over Sarah Palin despite her egregious lack of experience and, governing no more people than the Richmond metro area.
