Anderson Cooper

Los Angeles Times:

Kay Jones, a producer on CNN's Anderson Cooper's "AC360," recently blogged on the show's website that she "deserve[s] the month of May off." Well, she might as well take it because Cooper's fan base is doing just that already.

CNN's continual Obama bashing forced me to change the channel month's ago. Anderson included.

AC is hot

Anderson is suffering because a lot of liberal-minded folk are bailing from CNN - it has become the Fox-wannabe channel. I used to watch CNN regularly, but with increasing emphasis on the likes of John King, Dana Bash, Lou Dobbs, and the recent hiring of Mary Matalin, I have switched to MSNBC. Sorry, Anderson - nothing personal.

He needs to go back to doing the "Mole", although he wasn't very good there either.

I'm in the minority, but I actually like Anderson, there are aspects of his program that I don't care for, but I do think when given the opportunity, he's a fine reporter--particularly out in the field. While some view him as "boring", I think he's someone who strives to maintain a neutrality and not bring his own views into the program and 360 is generally a civil show where you don't get a lot of screaming pundits. AC360 does fall victim to CNN's ridiculous catering to right wing talking points, but I don't necessarily see Anderson as the culprit for this, that probably falls on the producers--it's his show, but I don't think he has total control over the direction it takes. Rachel and Keith's opinionated styles are valuable, but I don't think it's necessary for ALL reporters to take on that role--aren't reporters basically supposed to keep their opinions to themselves and just give their audiences the facts? I sometimes have a problem with the manner in which AC360 presents the facts, but overall, I think Anderson Cooper is a better reporter than he's ever given credit for and what's particularly unfair is all the criticism about his Vanderbilt heritage--those of us who are familiar with the beginnings of his career realize that he actually worked hard and did some risky and dangerous things on his own without any network backing him to get reports out of Burma and Somalia and other war-torn areas.

AC, the show and the person, are both over rated. Boring. CNN should bring back Aaron Brown...

The sainted Aaron Brown chose to play golf over covering the 2003 Space Shuttle accident--Anderson would've been there front and center--if you want to talk overrated, I'd put Aaron Brown in that category first.

AC was at his best during Hurricane Katrina when he was 'on site'. apparently, CNN just wants him to do tabloid news as every other CNN program, and he is much better than that. Unfortunately, cable news on all stations has become tabloid nonsense, and we can no longer get any real news on the television airwaves.

I stopped watching a long time ago

I started watching him seriously during the election when it was great to hear people analyzing the news (David Gergen was one of my favorites). Now it seems that the serious tone of the show was just a fluke and Anderson is just a pretty face (little wonder the blue hairs love him so much). I can't watch more than two minutes before I am rolling my eyes. His show covers tabloid fodder with all seriousness (as many have noted here) and whisks by whatever really newsworthy. The most gag-worthy is his 'Keeping them honest' pieces which are invariably scripted to rail against any use of tax payer money. That there is waste in gov't. is not everyday news, Anderson! You'd think with all that's going on and Obama's ambitious agenda he would 'dig deeper' into why reforms might have merit. And where is any analysis of claims made by the opposite side? Anderson makes a big deal out of looking skeptical, but, really, he'd read anything put in front of him. Perhaps the only reason he got so pissed off about Katrina is that he could take a shower for DAYS.

The only person I enjoy listening to when I do watch AC360 is David Gergan.

I think the himbo appeal has finally worn thin.
Anyway, this is all corporate news, crack for the ears.
Who gives a hoot what face they put it on it?
It's still all half-truths and 6-minute blocks of commercials.

I hate to hear that because I actually like Anderson Cooper. I'd be jumping for joy had they said Lou Dobb's ratings were down, because nothing would please me more than to see that anti-Latino hatemongerer gone

CNN 360 has turned into tabloid news. Some of the minor ,incidental stories they feature are the stuff of tabloid journalism. It's more like a magazine show. I turn it on and can barely get the news of the day. So I turn it off and guess many other people do so as well. As one poster on this site has said half of the show is lead ins to what's coming up over and over and then a few seconds on that story that you have been promised over and over. Boring and uniformative.

Ya know, I bumped my cable up to the digital package JUST so I could have CNN. They (Cox cable) pulled a bait'n'switch on me, and I ended up getting none of the news networks. But after hearing all the complaints, I can see I'm not missing anything. I guess I'll just stick to the internet for news.

Some times the talking heads have to do what the network heads tell them to do if not theyr out the door. Anderson does have experience . Perhaps he sould follow Glenn Beck to better opportunites
