Bill Maher: God Gave Miss California An Eternal Soul, I Gave Her Those Hooters (VIDEO)

Last night, Bill Maher lampooned Miss California (Carrie Prejean) for espousing faith in god then asking a man of science to improve her cans. Of course, in Maher's sketch it wasn't a man of science who worked on Ms. Prejean but Pastor-Doctor Jimmy Dale Purvis, a religious zealot who doesn't think there's anything wrong with improving on god's first try.

In fact he quotes the Bible saying, "Let her breasts satisfy thee at all times" and offers "good samaritan saline implants" which are filled with water direct from the Sea of Galilee.

But on a serious note, there is something truly sick and barbaric about the pageant industry and the way women are required to undergo invasive risky surgery to be deemed "beautiful". It kind of reminds me of how centuries ago the Chinese would bind women's feet so they would adhere to their warped sense of beauty.

Prejean you do all women a disservice by participating in this demeaning and degrading circus called the pageant world.

Yes. Time to start having pageants for men, with a component requiring them to wear skimpy swim trunks-- and then making them feel as if there's not enough to fill them. Maybe they can start having enhancement surgeries of their own. Then we can open up restaurants with buff male waiters (no one else need apply to work there) in tight sleeveless shirts and skimpy shorts.

Europe is so secular that in the past there would have been no problem whatsoever running a sketch like this; but because it is impossible to make an Islamic version, and there's a serious danger of being accused of double standards, I'm not sure that we ever will see the like of this in Europe again.

I haven't got any particular problem with that (and I'm an atheist) but it's a big change.

Sorry, I didn't mean to be obscure. I'll try to explain.

There was a time in Europe when it was open season on Christianity - you could say what you wanted - including strong satire. But now if you attempted this people will say "You wouldn't dare do the same thing to Islam". It's a charge that would probably be true. The media (not surprisingly) don't want to face death threats and violent protests - or accusations of religious or racial hatred - merely for a sketch, cartoon, novel or film mocking the muslim prophet or somesuch thing.

To persist attacking Christianity and not to do the same with Islam is increasingly seen as double standards - even cowardly. Plus there is legislation such as the UK's 'Religious Hatred Act 2006'.

If none of that makes sense, just ignore the post and move on!

Bill is on the money as usual! Glass houses and stones come to mind when I hear Prejean. How long before her Playboy layout?

Something President Obama said at Notre Dame was in line with how I think about Christians. Christians brought him to the church after he witnessed their commitment to helping others. For that reason I have no problem with those who do good works out of faith.

My problem is with those who proselytize for profit, the hypocrites who build mega churches while duping their followers for political gain. Those who are fundamentalists in every religion appear to be the source of violence in the name of God.
