WASHINGTON — The Pentagon says U.S. soldiers are still finding large numbers of Iranian-made weapons in Iraq, despite's Iran's denials.

Pentagon spokesman Geoff Morrell says a large cache of Iranian explosives was found a week ago, and the top U.S. general in Iraq recently told reporters about another large find.

Morrell says the military also sees evidence of Iranian training among Iraqi terrorist groups.

Iran denies that it is meddling in Iraq, and Iran is hosting the Iraqi foreign minister for meetings Tuesday in Tehran.

Morrell also cited Syria, saying that foreign fighters are still coming into Iraq over the Syrian border.

This propaganda comes and goes as needed or desired.

The US has more to gain by instability in Iraq than Iran does.

We're looking for excuses to stay.

Let's see, the US invades a country on the border of both Syria and Iran.

Both countries offered to help us after 911 to get Osama, but genius Bush includes Iran in the "Axis of Evil" and consistently rebuffs Syria.

So both countries are bolstering forces that could give US troops some problems in Iraq.

The sheer outrage of that!

The Iranians obviously remain ungrateful for our imposition of the Shah, which of course should never make them suspect our motives in invading a country right next door, a nation we encouraged to attack Iran in the past, causing a million Iranian casualties. Why would they want to interfere? Irrational, those Persians.

Syria is also obviously oblivious to all the help we've given them by arming Israel with the world's most advanced weapons, ignoring its illegal deployment of nuclear weapons and ignoring all its attempts to create a rational relationship.

No wonder it's so hard for us to get along with nations like this.

Iran has definitely been involved in supply Shiite militias with weapons and training. Everyone talks about it in Iraq, the papers, the political parties, citizens, etc. The Special Groups that Iran backs however have largely been inactive since the end of 2008. Iran has done this before when important political dates come up in Iraq. This time it was the provincial elections. Those happened four months ago however, and Special Group activities have not really returned.

It would be interesting to find out then how old or new these weapon caches are. The U.S. has included weapons buried years ago in these counts before. These could be very old weapons found now that security has improved or they could be newer weapons being stashed for a later day. Either way though, the Iranian backed militias are not really using them right now, which is a positive development. musingsoniraq.blogspot.com

People that fabricate lies to invade a country 10,000 miles away alas have very little credibility.

"USA still sending w.e.a.p.o.n.s. and troops to Iraq" - Iranian DoD.

Where's the difference - other that THAT sentence would be TRUE and provable?

It's always the same catch: Prior to ANY talk with Iran or Syria, something like "Iran / Syria still sending w.e.a.p.o.n.s. / combatants to Iraq!" - keeps popping up from the Pentagon.

It's as tiring as it is ridiculous. Note to the Pentagon-PR-Department:

The World has stopped listening to your fabrications a long time ago. You can stop them now. it was funny and entertaining, as long as it lasted. But now your false accusations are worn out like an old record.
