Maps Show Why Carbon Legislation Is Struggling
Grist:
Coal has had areas of the South and Midwest in a devil's bargain for decades now: cheap electricity in exchange for poverty, low-quality social services, and bought-off politicians.

I do not agree that the article on Grist is worth reading. The article is nonsense.
Also, we have been taught that North America was covered in ice many times in the last 1,000,000 years.
The ice ages were at a time when there were hardly any coal fired electrical utilities, no cars, no airplanes, etc., etc.
Stop trying to use make believe reasoning to promote your agenda.
We need a tax on mercury and lead emisions.,
Yeah, how ironic. Why don't you overlay a map of the states with the highest budget deficits? How do you think that would look?
Do you think we should be allowing the likes of Rep. Waxman to be writing ANY policy, let alone one that involves money? Look at the situation California is in--now look at the leadership positions in the House and Senate.
California Democrats Pelosi, Feinstein, Harman, Waxman ALL have major roles in shaping policy and yet the state they represent is in free-fall.
Keep their hands off the wheel of the American 'ship of state'.
California is having budget deficit problems because the last administration drove our country off the cliff to fill the coffers of the oil industry.
No, that's not true. Try again.
