For "Idol," it was the competition's lowest-rated finale ever, including its first season summer run.

Until this season, I never missed AI. After the whole Sanjaya thing (2 seasons ago?) I kinda lost interest - so I've not watched even one minute of this year's AI. Not even Simon's wit is enough now to make me go back.
Enough already. The show is in overkill drive as it is; twice a week is way too much to begin with, and the fact that so many people stick with it is amazing.
GOOD maybe it will go away now! These are not artists in any way .... just entertainment for the lowest common denominator.
I thought the show last night was a farce...very distasteful except for Carlos Santana. I will never watch AI again. And Faux channel just lost me for good...AI was the only show I watched on it aanyway..and now I hate it completely. I hope everyone who saw the farce for what it is tonight will stop also. I am sure Faux channel had a influence in the outcome in their good vs evil mentality. Yuck. Yuck. Yuck.
After 8 seasons, yes it's expected! I couldn't even tell you the last time I watched this stuff.
Anyone who can watch this piece of garbage, has manure for gray matter!
I am proud to say that I have never watched this show for more than a couple of minutes; long enough to figure out it was a waste of time.
Stick a fork in this show because it's DONE! I only watch the auditions anyway for a good laugh. Otherwise this show isn't must see tv.

who cares about mainstream brainwash TV, this "show" has always sucked. anybody that likes manufactered fake pop stars, of course most Americans will believe anything. eat toxic food, let companies poison their water, listen to fathead Simon tell them what is good singing. etc
I believe that AI has jumped the shark. It's unfortunate because this was probably the best season ever, especially because of it's superstar, Adam Lambert. Because of Lambert, they attracted celebrity mentors who probably wouldn't have bothered. Also, because of Lambert, they had the hottest finale ever with superior performances, staging, and dancing. It's no mere coincidence that Lambert performed with Kiss.
However, the finale results would tell a different story. Kris Allen was declared the winner with a total vote tally of about 40 mil votes above last year's count. Kris reprised his performance of the finale song, a song he could barely sing. Oddly, this years finale was the least watch finale ever. Because of dialidol.com, last night I knew Allen had won - obviously so did many others. Poor Kris, apparently 38 mil of the votes came from Arkansas, his home state, which has a pop. of less than 3 mil. I'm guessing this won't bode well for his career or the future of AI. It wasn't polite; it was political.

american idol has gotten old and boring.
Let's be rational and scientific here..... if you want higher ratings during a difficult economy, you need to feature more gratuitious T & A.... appeals to a wider (literal & figurative) demographic.

Look, as long as the 'non-reality' reality show makes money for Rupert Murderock, Fixed Network will run it literally into the ground. And even at it's lowest ratings at 23 million, it's still pulling in revenue enough even if it was on life support. The great thing is...there's always a 'off' switch that Rupert hasn't been able to take over the rights to yet.
Everybody thought Adam was going to win and so didn't watch. They missed the upset win of Kris Allen. Too bad. Same thing happened on DWTS last night. The guy they thought they were going to see win lost to Shawn Johnson , an Olympic star.
