'Ghostbusters III' In The Works

EW:

Dan Aykroyd says that the long-awaited Ghostbusters III may start shooting this winter, with all the original cast members returning, including Sigourney Weaver. But a spokesperson for Sony, which will distribute the film, politely says that Aykroyd may have jumped the gun a little. "We couldn't be more excited about the way the new Ghostbusters film is coming together, but at this point we are focused on a great screenplay," the studio spokesperson tells EW.com.

Let me guess....the script will have them fighting ghosts in the retirement home where they all reside. These guys are a little long in the tooth for this sort of thing. Remember Harrison Ford's last romp in Indy 4?

Mark my words:

At least one of the original cast will cameo.

The storyline may or may not take itself seriously, but it will use the original characters and make self-parodies out of them.

The new actors will look similar to the original actors.

The movie will make remarks and take set pieces out of the previous movies and think it's so clever for acknowledging us old geezers (anyone between 26 and 45) who saw the original flicks in the movie theatre.

The theme song will be re-recorded and, as usual, sound far far-worse than the original. Mostly because the original was perfect to begin with.

I think I will pass on this one. The first film was decent for its time. The second one, despite having a few fun moments, was a dud for the most part. I cannot imagine this one having any redeeming qualities. . . .
