I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Jesse And Kilmeade

My word, Jesse Ventura is basically straight up walking across America from one television news studio to the next, just plain wreckin' whatever fools he finds hanging out there, like he was Caine in Kung Fu or something. Here's a clip of Ventura dispensing his version of street justice to the gaggle of naifs that host Fox And Friends. Brian Kilmeade, who I believe the kids call "the Brown one," is goaded into riling Ventura up on waterboarding, and it doesn't really go well. "If we're not going to be a country that goes by the rule of law when it's convenient or inconvenient then what do we stand for?" Ventura asked. Kilmeade whined back that things are different when "people are on fire" and "buildings are blowing up." Ventura maintains, "I wouldn't torture," properly citing the fact that it produces "baloney."

Oy. Then the Brown one says that his support for torturing the bejeezus out of people will end when "they're dead," which was not a smart thing to say to Ventura. "Really? Have you enlisted? Have you enlisted or are you just talking?... Go walk the walk, don't talk the talk."

Actually, I think we can all agree that having Brian Kilmeade attempt to defend this country in any capacity would be one of the worst ideas imaginable.

- If BUILDINGS ARE BLOWING UP!,
- If PEOPLE ARE JUMPING OUT OF SKYCRAPERS!
Obviously meant for the cranium disabled amongst us

Aw, poor Steve Doocy! He wasn't given a script during this particular segment or was relegated to non-speaking towns person. The guy with the brown hair who is not Steve Doocy was large and in charge and stupid as usual. Sorry, Jesse. No matter how much you body-slam these idiots with the truth, they have their talking points memorized and their loyal viewing audience nods along with them. My cousin recently told me that Fox isn't as right-leaning as I might think. She was correct. They're seldom right, especially when they think torture isn't wrong when American lives are at stake. Meanwhile, the soldiers they so often cheer on are subject to abuse because their country used torture to interrogate terror suspects.

A group of terrorist take a captain of a ship hostage, Navy Seals kill the three terrorist holding him hostage. This is OK, everyone is happy. The terrorist are dead and the captain is alive.

Police chase a fugitive who refuses to stop, the fugitive crashes and is ejected from the vehicle. The arriving police officers don’t check to see if he is dead or severely injured, they just start beating him. The officers are fired but many people say they shouldn’t be because this fugitive was a very bad guy. These people who say the police were justified because the fugitive hit a police officer with his vehicle. (I work in law enforcement, don’t agree, police were wrong)

A transit officer runs up to someone and knocks him into a wall putting him in a coma.

The CIA uses water boarding and the Country, Congress and the majority of the American people go crazy. The three terrorist (not US citizens) who were water boarded gave up information that probably saved thousands of US citizens lives.

Does any of this make sense to you, there is a huge discrepancy here. Every day in our country citizens are tortured by law enforcement officers and the public excepts 95% of it. If under law enforcement guideline the use of deadly force can be used when someone’s life is in imminent danger. How can anyone say that water boarding used on terrorist to save thousands of US citizens life is wrong.

If waterboarding is effective, why did it have to be done over 80 times to one guy? Isn't that an indication that it isn't?

The U.S. has always been known, the world over, that it is a decent and just country, with decent and fair people. Torture is a slippery slope. Does the U.S. want to be known as a country who tortures?

So Chris, what you are saying is that the police officers who torture American citizens everyday are sadists & terrorists? You could be on to something. They should go & work for Blackwater who would happily financially reward their sadism.

Torture, according to the United Nations Convention Against Torture, is:
...any act by which severe pain or suffering, whether physical or mental, is intentionally inflicted on a person for such purposes as obtaining from him, or a third person, information or a confession, punishing him for an act he or a third person has committed or is suspected of having committed, or intimidating or coercing him or a third person, or for any reason based on discrimination of any kind, when such pain or suffering is inflicted by or at the instigation of or with the consent or acquiescence of a public official or other person acting in an official capacity. It does not include pain or suffering arising only from, inherent in, or incidental to, lawful sanctions.

I would love to see an official count of how many new holes Mr. Ventura has ripped on his rounds of the talk show circuit this past week.

The funniest aspect of the segment was how Steve Doofus, normally prone to utter whatever moronic thing pops into his little mind, didn't utter a single syllable during the interview. No doubt he feared Ventura taking a wack at him if things got out of hand.

"The 1994 law defines torture as including only practices "specifically intended" to inflict "severe physical ... pain or suffering" .

Whomever asserts that waterboarding does not inflict severe suffering should join Sean Hanity in the line of big mouthed cowards who do not have the courage of their convictions. They should allow themselves to be waterboarded. I have not heard from a single person who has been waterboarded that THEY did not fear death or consider waterboarding torture. The whole idea of waterboarding is to induce the feeling that the victim is drowning.

Jesse is great, if you watched the after the show segment, brian storms off because jesses has the audacity to question whether it was an inside job, jesse made a good point the minute anybody asks a question about 911 you are called a troup hater or an america hater. What was priceless was when blondie said they question government all the time. They sure didn't during bush, they treated people the same way questioning a persons patriotism if they dare say anything against the administration. I guess she meant they ask questions now.

I note Lanny Davis, on The O'Reilly Factor tonight, claiming that the 1994 law re torture "made waterboarding illegal." Lanny Davis is either wrong--rather unforgivable in a prominent lawyer-legal spokesman for the Democrat Party--or he's lying again.

The 1994 law defines torture as including only practices "specifically intended" to inflict "severe physical ... pain or suffering" and certain other practices that cause "prolonged mental harm" (emphasis added). Under this definition, deliberately inflicting pain that is not quite "severe," or mental harm that is not quite "prolonged," is no crime. "

"and certain other practices that cause "prolonged mental harm" (emphasis added)". The word and adds to the first part of the definition of illegal torture you cite too. Waterboarding inflicts severe suffering. Then, certain other practices that cause "prolonged mental harm may also constitute illegal torture. Cutting off a toe may not lead to "prolonged mental harm", but sure is torture. If you disagree, let someone cut off your toe & confirm the hypothesis.
