Israel Air Force

Israel's air force held a large-scale exercise simulating war on several fronts with enemies that include Iran, Israeli defense officials said Friday.

The practice this week involved Israel's entire air arm and was meant to prepare for an all-out war, including missile attacks aimed at Israeli cities, the officials said. It lasted four days, ending Thursday.

Israel periodically conducts such exercises. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because the details of the exercise were not made public.

The military said it was part of its annual training program, using the word "routine" twice in a brief statement sent to reporters.

But it comes at a time of increasing friction surrounding Iran's nuclear program, which Israel believes is aimed at producing a nuclear weapon it sees as an existential threat.

Israel has said it prefers to block the Iranian threat through diplomacy, but will not rule out a military strike.

The military said the exercise included both regular army personnel and reservists, releasing no further information. Israel plans a nationwide exercise next month simulating missile attacks aimed at civilians.

On Wednesday, Iran test-fired a new rocket, the Sajjil-2, which it claims has a range of 1,200 miles (1,900 kilometers) -- meaning it could easily reach Israel. Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who is seeking re-election next month, has suggested in the past that Israel should be "wiped off the map."

Israeli officials lauded the exercise. "I visited the exercise and was very impressed," lawmaker Tzahi Hanegbi, who heads the Israeli parliament's defense committee, told Army Radio on Friday. "It's no secret that the time for decisions is approaching, in all of the world's leaderships."

Defense Minister Ehud Barak called the maneuver "important." "What we saw strengthens our certainty that we have people we can depend on," Barak said in a statement.

Iran was one of the main topics of discussion at the White House this week when Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Barack Obama held their first meeting.

The new US administration has said it will engage Iran, reversing the policy of the Bush administration. At the same time, the new US leadership is threatening to pursue more international sanctions against Iran if those efforts fail.

BLOGGERS SHOULD BEAT THE REGULAR TV MEDIA COMMENTATORS, SEE THAT ARMAGEDDON IS CLOSE AT HAND, AND START GOING BALLISTIC.

Because the Israel-Iran conflict will continue to simmer, and seems to be next big media-created attention-getter, it can already be anticipated to be marquee material of biblical proportions. This three-main-party close-at-hand free-for all has a script written in heaven and hell: Israel cannot afford to let go of the West Bank without hurting its security, Iran cannot afford to let go of developing a nuclear capacity, and the US cannot afford but to hold them both at bay, as the US will bear the blame and most economic damage from even a small military clash between them.

These two countries do not even have a common border, could not possibly want to occupy each other, or take any physical resources or population belonging to the other, so what conceivable purpose can a war between them serve? This enigma is what makes this the master plot of the ages.

Israel doesnt want the West Bank for security. If that were true, they wouldnt allow civilian settlers to be building residential neighborhoods on occupied land in contravention of international law. The Israeli settler neighborhoods require 24 hour armed military security to allow them to continue build houses, roads and swimming pools illegally.

The occupation of the West Bank is a illegitimate Israeli grab for land and resources. It is a major obstacle to peace for Israel with its neighbors.

Israel just want to be the supper power of the ME. Iran is giving them a hard bargain to be one. At least with Iran they can accomplish something without the help of the WEST to have a nuclear bomb. Israel on the other hand they cannot do anything without the help of her major benefactor..USA. Let them bomb Iran as long as no more blood from the Americans.
Israelo will sure find out that Iran is not Iraq.

Unfortunately Congress will support any Israel war effort. Key congressional positions are held by Pro-Israel politicians. Check out its recent votes. In addition, the MSM will constantly bombard the public with pro-war propaganda like they did for Iraq.

Once again the author repeats this intentional mistranslation :

"Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who is seeking re-election next month, has suggested in the past that Israel should be "wiped off the map.""

Yes, when is someone going to come out and say that Ahmadinejad DID NOT say that Israel should be 'wiped off the map'? A TRANSLATOR said it. And everyone repeats it over and over.

Don't I wish!! He said "the Israeli REGIME should be wiped from the pages of time"!!
What MSM outlet ever ran with truth/facts instead of propaganda!?
Now, Israel voted in a further to the right PM. Israel will bomb Iran & the US tax payer will foot the bill... again & again!

No, what he said was said of a regime not a landmass or a people, a regime. In other words the apartheid-like potentially genocidal, murderous, racially elitist & racist, goodwill-draining, exclusionary, philosophy of the Zionist regime. Nowhere did he mention that Israel should be destroyed.

Everyone should ask themselves this question: What the he// are we doing in the Middle East?

There is NO GOOD ANSWER to this question and the consequences are catastrophic and spell: DEAD END!

Why are we enabling Israel's crimes against humanity and their apocalyptic fantasies?
Why do we have bases all over the Middle East when we know that their presence is a perpetual source of hatred that will mire us in war and conflict until most of us have departed from this life?
Why are we allowing crimes against humanity on two nations of millions in Darfur and the Palestinian Territories and we just do NOTHING to put an end to them?

Why do we not focus our efforts and our wealth on eradicating poverty, dealing with disease, preparing for the tsunami of seniors headed for dependence, disease, medicare and social security that the West is unprepared to handle?

Continued...

Part 2.

Why do we not focus our efforts and our wealth on cleaning up the planet and preventing the extinction of mankind in less than 100 years because the billions we blow off on maintaining military arsenals and escalation should be spent NOW on capturing emissions from the dirtiest fossil fuel on the planet; COAL?
Why are we killing civilians every week in order to protect our "interests" which are a delusional quest for power based on our dependence on oil?
Why are we chasing terrorism from one country into another, when the terror is the one we breed in our own hearts?
Why are are we losing our souls to FEAR and breeding INHUMANITY in ourselves and others???

When Reagan stated: Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall...we were already busy building another one in the Middle East piled high with the bodies of close to two million casualties in Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, the Palestinian Territories, Afghanistan now Pakistan and with the millions more refugees displaced to a life of misery with our enabling, meddling and mere hostile presence.
Terrorism isn't the enemy. WE are the ENEMY!

This is the legacy we are leaving: A garbage dump where fear, inhumanity, hatred and perpetual war will rule until the destruction of those born today or maybe even our own.

No, they don't hate us for our freedom.

All this because of a stupid ego booster for Ahmedinejad's poll numbers from a mediocre rocket?

I'm not sure who fed into this more: the Iranian people or Israeli and American propaganda.

All these "tough" countries are all talk.

Remember when Russia tried saying they were gonna start the cold war?

Please, if Israel attacks Iran, they will be on their own.

Nato won't help them, the UN will condemn them, and Obama will as well.

We cannot fund other nations perpetual wars of ego and religion.

We are still trying to fix Bush's

Israel will attack first. Iran will then strike back with a bit greater force than Israel's attack. Then Israel will toast Iran. My recommendation - buy gold and gas futures.

Both sides need to TALK...... all of this saber rattling is a bunch of B.S.

The problem is that the Iranians will likely retaliate against US forces in the region if attacked by the Israelis. We're already stretched pretty thin dealing with Iraq, Afghanistan and keeping an eye on North Korea. We really can't afford another one right now.

I've never bought into the idea that Iran is that delusional ... having Israel dent your nuclear infrastructure is hardly a solid motivation to ask America to raze the *rest* of your infrastructure. Just because we lack the manpower to hold Iranian territory at the moment doesn't mean that every power station, bridge, airfield, water system, telecommunication grid and factory bigger than a bakery is something Iran wants to watch the USAF and USN reduce to smoking rubble.

Look at those Isra_lis basking in the sun! Meanwhile Palestinians are living in crowded, sunless ghettos, where buildings are now practically one piled on the other to make room for so many refugees displaced from the West Bank and East Jerusalem!!!

Israel made sure that Palestinians don't live long enough to enjoy their beach:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/5065008.stm

If only Gazans had the luxury of leaving the pile of rubble that was once their home and their struggle to survive every single day below the poverty line to go and loll around on the beach!!!

By the way, Palestinians on the West Bank know that time is on their side and not with Isralis and they are very, very long-suffering and eventually reality will catch up with Israel. That reality is very close.

Here is my take for truth: I sincerely believe Israel has a right to exist as a nation. That said, why is that Israel would deny Palestinians the right to live as a nation? I sincerely believe Israel has the right to defend itself against aggressors. If that is true, why is it that Israel would deny that same right to people who were resident on that land for nearly two thousand years in their absence for whatever reason? America, as an ally of Israel must reign in war mongers. You can't grow corn in a war zone. Meaning: You cannot create agriculture nor industry nor attract significant investment if you insist on making war on your neighbors. This applies not only to Israel but to their Muslim cousins with whom they enjoy a common ancestor Abraham/Ibrahim.

The key is to stop selling weapons to either side. If you have fancy warplanes, tanks and other implements of war you can't help but find reason to use them. Responsible leadership of any government must be required to find it unacceptable to bomb women and children, to sow land-mines in fields where they must walk or otherwise disrupt the peaceful conduct of their lives. In my opinion, Israel must adopt an entirely different approach to dealing with its neighbors. This millennia old conflict has reached the point of psychosis.

BTW, it does no good to censure truth. All that does is make it all the more apparent.

I don't see no one in the region shaking in their boots.

Why?

The myth of the IDF has been smashed.

And the region can hardly wait for the next round.

Cause the IDF won't know what hit them and from whence - and just like Lebanon'06 war, the Izzie soldiers will run back across the border crying for their mamas - if there is a border to go back to.
