I really want a women to be chosen, but sorry "Not A White Women", that is not true diversity, another white women is just another white person, what we need is diversity that represent not only race and ethnicity but experiences of modern America,
How does putting a white women on the bench diversity? It is not!
Can she relate to the struggles and perspectives of people of color in this country, "NO" she cant!
Sorry, but what we need is a person of color on the bench and if it's a women even better!
To nominate another white person even if it's a women, along with the other 8 white judges already on the bench and call it "diversity" is INSANE.
The next supreme court pick must be someone of sound liberal pedigree. Definitely a woman and preferably hispanic. One who will have a strong voice to counter the wrong-headed Scalia. The nominee must be a product of modern America while adhering to the constitution. This person must be on the court well past Obama's presidency. As a generation Y product myself, I would like to see the nominee still be on the court when I've reached my 50's.
A pick from Chicago and one from Michigan...how many people has he surrounded himself with from Chicago? You know what they say about location, location, location....something to consider.
Something says perhaps either Judge Wood or Gov Granholm,,..I think he will make a good choice...it's an important one,,,and this is not like tv's west wing,,a fictional idealistic show.....Let's hope Scalia and Thomas soon join Souter in retirement !
The part of me that thinks "He will go to Camp David, think this out, and then come back with the decision" is countered by the part of me that thinks "would he make the decision without a personal interview?" Maybe he interviews them at Camp David and then makes the decision.
Will he swing it more to the right with a centerist pick leaving dems and more than half of america with no voice at all ..That is the question..Someone should tell him, if we wanted a right republican in office we would have voted for MCCain. Did Obama get the message, we will see...
Bayside, Boy, do I agree with your comment. My reason for voting for O. was S. Court, S. Court, S. Court. The thought of the Palin-McCain ticket sent shivers up my spine. If he dares to swing to the right, that will be the last time he ever sees another dime from me. Period.

Let's see we have a number of do nothings on the bench right now Scalia, Thomas, Alito. So Obama should find someone with a brain. He needs to pick a judge. Someone who looks at the law and makes decision based on prior cases with what todays needs are. I am studing law right now and have read some real winner decisions. Please pick someone with brains...There are so few right now.

That's what they said last week and the week before....
I do not know about anyone else, but I am tired of anticipatory thoughts and hopes reported as news. To me, the CNN story is: something may possibly could hopefully likely happen next week or the week after or even in July someone said.
I wish they would report the news when there is news.
