ABC, NBC, CBS Unite To Raise Money For Cancer Research

ABC News:

Stand Up To Cancer, the charitable initiative launched last year and aimed at getting new cancer treatments to patients as quickly as possible, will announce today the first round of three-year grants totaling $73.6 million to five research "dream teams."

The broadcast, "Stand Up To Cancer," will air on Sept. 5 on ABC, CBS and NBC and will feature live performances by recording artists and movie and film stars who will, along with the evening news anchors from each of the networks, deliver information about potentially life-saving cancer research.

Raise money to give to Doctors who use the money to experiment on animals for a non-existent cure for Cancer.

Cancer does not fall from the sky and randomly afflict unsuspecting individuals who feel they did nothing to deserve being stricken with Cancer.

Cancer very rarely if ever invades a well nourished, well exercised, healthy body. Our body breaks down and becomes susceptible to Cancer or the destruction of cells, when we ignore the basic tenets of living a healthy lifestyle.

Stop giving money to doctors to experiment on animals to find a cure for unhealthy living, become a vegan and exercise regularly and animals will not have to suffer needlessly so scientists can find a magic elixir to cure our craven appetites and sedentary existence.

Maybe Obama will give you some money for research, since all my taxes are going up I have none to spare, hopefully he will pay for my chemo too. One more trillion dollar bailout isn't that much more to ask.

Imagine all of the fundraisers going to other cures, like lungworm disease or something. I just read about this lady on the big Island of Hawaii being in a coma since December because she ate some produce that was not properly cleaned and had residue from slugs or snails, who in turn eat rat feces and this caused a rare form of meningitis in this woman. There were about 30 or so cases confirmed, and I bet on the mainland of the US there are many many more just not diagnosed, because slugs and snails are every where, but with many people not having medical insurance how would they know what killed them. This person on the big Island has been to a doctor several times with her symptoms and was told it was a flu. Anyway, during the interview on the local tv yesterday a scientist said that this disease is not being researched because it is called a "orphan disease' and mostly occurs in third world countries. Get the irony of that one!!! In the meantime probably a lot of people die in this country without proper diagnosis, just like the Hunta virus, caused also by rat feces. I personally knew a person who contracted this disease after gardening and not properly washing hands. So, how about more research here???

I think all this research is bs at the least. There is research, yet, we wear clothes with too many insecticides, sleep in beds with too much fire retardant, live in a place with too much formaldehyde in our furniture, and finally eat even veggies with too many pesticides, and our kids are going nuts by eating all of this processed food that keeps them from "concentrating" in school, and we are stupid enough to drink a lot of poison from water bottles despite the warnings there at least. Wow, I am not a scientist, but do not need to have a research done to tell me that something is wrong here. I probably would like some research to help me navigate out of this mess, for it is hard to do at times, especially raising kids in this plastic, poisonous world.

Sorry, kids, but enough with the fund raisers. Big Pharma can figure out female contraceptives, erectile dysfuntion solutions, mood elevators, sleep aides....and the list goes on. But- confound it!- they just can't figure out how to address the big "C".
As our good friend, Chris Rock, observed: "The money's not in the cure. The money's in the medicine!"
"Research". We address symptoms, not problems. Gotta keep that customer coming back for more!
Show me your progress, Big Pharm, before you come begging for more funding. No progress, but playing on those emotional chords, seems doubly wrong.
