I personally dislike overtly gay depictions on film - as a lifestyle. I find it to be repugnant. They have always been in the seams of our existence, largely because they are disliked, even if the people making films like doing it, if rock n rollers like shocking people and overage Hollywood matrons want to do a makeover. If the day comes that gay depictions are frequent, I will do whatever is necessary to keep my children from seeing that, or thinking that is just a personal choice or alternative.
I believe in supporting families with stable jobs and a healthy population, without a segregation of sexes. We do not really want to go that route, and we should not think it is just a matter of personal liberty of choice, or even personal rights. People have a right to chose their sexual orientation, but society ought not sanction this in the way that the decadent people have Hollywood would have it.
People should let Hollywood know : We turn our TV off, we will not go to these movies, we want entertainment, not programming. We do not want to be known as a nation of weirdos. We will pull the cable out.

#1. Being gay is not a lifestyle - it is what a person is - just like you're straight.
#2. People do not choose their sexual orientation
#3. Doesn't matter if your children see gay images or not - they are either gay or they are not. They can't make a "choice". If they ARE gay then seeing gay images will help them not hate themselves as much - even with a bigoted parent.
#4. Gay people have not been in the seams of existence in America - you wouldn't have had one without them. They fought for you in every war, they have been there in every facet of American life - just forced to be closeted becaue of bigots like you.
#5. The gay people i know have stable jobs and do support families. I don't know what planet you're living on.
I hope you do turn off the TV, stop going to movies etc. Who cares.
What your comment has to do with this ladies coming out story is beyond me.
She looks very butch in that photo, but then again she always has. It seems a bit disingenuous that she didn't think that her admission would spark a reaction from the media, but whatever.

Why do they post a picture of her with Tom Cruise?! Do they think that people will only remember her from Top Gun or is there another implication?

When I think of her I think of WITNESS first - she was great in that movie with Harrison Ford but these posts are for the masses so yes that's why.
She was spectacular in "Witness."
I never took the time to figure out whether she "looked" like she might be a lesbian or not. I did, however, find her opposite Tom Cruise in Top Gun really wierd. It was the only time I saw Cruise in a movie where the female lead looked like she was overpowering him.

Tom Cruise was hot, hot, hot in this photo. Now I can see why he became a big deal. So was kelly.
The last recent photo of her had her hair chopped off. She didn't look so good in it. Longer hair suits her "glam quotient" better. However, if that is the way she likes it, so be it.
