Kris Allen's Beatles Duet With Mike Huckabee

05/28/09 08:29 PM ET   AP

Kris Allen

LOS ANGELES — "American Idol" winner Kris Allen is already thinking about getting into politics.

The 23-year-old acoustic crooner from Conway, Arkansas, duets with Mike Huckabee (HUCK'-a-bee') during an appearance on the former Arkansas governor's Fox News Channel show scheduled to air Saturday.

Huckabee, who ran unsuccessfully for the Republican presidential nomination last year, backs up Allen on bass for The Beatles' "Yesterday."

During the appearance, Allen asks: "Maybe someday I could be the Governor of Arkansas, right?"

Huckabee replies: "It's a great gig. It really is."

Um, didn't a guy named Barack Obama and a woman named Hillary Clinton appear on Fox during last year's presidential race? Do you think they share the Fox political positions? Or were they just trying to reach out to another audience?

And clearly you haters don't know much about Kris Allen, or his musical gifts.
Here's a comment he made in a recent Entertainment Weekly interview:

There [were all these rumors] about how all the conservative, Christian people that would vote for me hate Adam and never want him to win because of who he is. Oh, it was so frustrating—really bad, because we are really good friends. Why can't everyone get along? It never made any sense for me to judge anyone, who they are. It frustrates me that people can't get along with people because of their differences. And I'll tell you what, especially Christians. Christians have a hard time accepting people like Adam—liberal, from L.A., looks different, maybe acts a certain way. He's a great, great guy. They don't even give him a chance. And it's frustrating because I come from that. A lot of my friends are not that way, which I appreciate, but a lot of people in Arkansas or in the South or wherever are that way. We really hope that our relationship can be an inspiration to people. I could go on about that forever.

let me explain this to you- huckabee has evolved into yet another fox guy who makes cruel, unjustified remarks, pushes his less than educated agenda- denies evolution-, and parrots whatever the fox agenda is for that day- he is a blemish on the south and on honestty, integrity, and class

As Chris would say, "Are you freaking serious?"

WOW. As a huge Adam fan, but having never once participated in the Chris bashing, (Gokeys another story), I feel that now I must speak out.
OK. I got that off my chest...

OH how sweet - perhaps afterward they can crucify a queer just to make sure there is no 'empathy' going on.

I guess it all makes sense why he won now. He clearly was not the better singer -- I personally would have had him out in the first of five to leave, but definitely would have put him out before Danny. Wouldn't it be funny if, based on the "Huckabee" friendship and the fact that Fox was running the show, the whole thing was fixed to begin with. Still, I think Adam will go much further in his career than Kris. I can see Kris ending up as one of the singers in the "new wave" Christian music and that's about it. Not saying there's anything wrong with that, but certainly not what people who watch the show are looking for. This is the second "questionable" Idol season that I have seen. It will probably be the last. There's no point in watching if it's clear it's fixed to begin with.

I have all of Kris' music from Idol. I love his voice and sweet personality. He is making non-stop appearances as the American Idol. The idea that this appearance is reflective of his political or religious preferences is stupidity.

This guy looks like a cross between John Mayer and Kermit the Frog. He sounds like he's been drinking too much Kava tea with Jack Johnson by the campfire. zzzzzzzzz
