Wanda Sykes Mocks Media's Michelle Coverage: 'They're Waiting For Weezy' (VIDEO)

Wanda Sykes made fun of the media skirting the race issue when talking about Michelle Obama during an appearance on Leno Wednesday night.

"She is just so sweet," Sykes said of meeting the First Lady, "Both of them are just very genuine."

But Sykes says the media didn't know how to cover her.

"There are little subtle ways they dance around the race issue," Sykes told Leno. "'When are we going to see the real Michelle Obama?' And you know what they're saying... They're waiting for her to throw all his stuff on the White House lawn... They're waiting for Weezy to jump out."

Sykes headlined the White House Correspondents dinner in May and drew fire for jokes she made at Rush Limbaugh's expense.

Well, she is on a hit show and has been in several hit movies, and headlined the President's dinner... and she is saying things the media can't or won't -- because one of the jobs of comedy -- and comedians -- through the centuries, is "keeping it real". I don't get what you don't get.

I wish she had kept it more real -- I just wish she had hit Obama with a joke about the fact his Federal government will not admit she is MARRIED.

I think the entire audiance and Jay Leno are racists. What they were laughing at was Sykes making fun of Michelle Obama, not of her calling the media racists. They thought her imitation of Obama was funny.

My point is they were laughing when she did the finger-wag and head shake. It's a bigger stretch to believe they were laughing at how racist the media is (?). At best Sykes is just perpetuating the stereotype. I don't see the humor of a black person imitating a black person any more than seeing an asian imitate an asian, white imitate a white, etc. It's just not funny.
