Billy Crystal's Finale Song For Jay Leno (VIDEO)

Billy Crystal appeared on Jay Leno's next-to-last show, performing a song for the outgoing "Tonight Show" host. It is a tradition of sorts, dating back to back to Bette Midler's song for Johnny Carson when he retired from hosting the show.

Crystal was Leno's first guest 17 years ago.

Singing a song like his Oscar-hosting songs of yore, Crystal sang about the things viewers will miss most about Leno.

Sample lyric:

That chin, that chin, that fabulous chin,
It starts in Burbank and reaches Berlin

He also sang about Leno's hair, cars, sex, and Hugh Grant's hooker Divine Brown.

Yeah. My opinion of Billy Crystal would probably be higher if he weren't such a suck-up to Leno.

It was weird seeing those older clips of Billy all trim and energetic. The interview wasn't great but he did come to life during the song. I'm always amazed at the kind of hate that comes out about a guy like Jay who is one of the most down to earth hardest working regular Joes, man's man you'll find in the business. People give him flack for his brand of safe humor but his Tonight show was more cutting edge than Carson's who in the last years was barely there 3 nights a week.

Everyone seems to have a hard on for Letterman but his show has never topped what he did back in the NBC days and the failure to beat Jay in the ratings proves it.. His move to CBS took all the spontaneity and risk out of his comedy. Now he just looks real tired. I thought Jay's show was at its best during the strike when he seemed more free wheeling and didn't depend on dumb skits. I'm looking forward to what he does in primetime. I have no use for yet another forensic crime or doctor show.

The fact that Letterman's show has won six times as many Emmys as Leno's over the last 17 year would seem to disagree with you so is the fact that CBS is still able to charge more to advertisers for Letterman than NBC can for Leno because Letterman attracts a much higher quality audience.
