Randall Terry

Randall Terry, the founder of anti-abortion group Operation Rescue who led protests against George Tiller's clinic in Wichita, Kansas in 1991, issued a statement about today's killing of the abortion doctor.

In his comments, Terry does not grieve for Tiller or denounce the murder but seems more concerned about President Obama's reaction and what it bodes for the pro-life movement.

"George Tiller was a mass-murderer. We grieve for him that he did not have time to properly prepare his soul to face God. I am more concerned that the Obama Administration will use Tiller's killing to intimidate pro-lifers into surrendering our most effective rhetoric and actions. Abortion is still murder. And we still must call abortion by its proper name; murder.

Those men and women who slaughter the unborn are murderers according to the Law of God. We must continue to expose them in our communities and peacefully protest them at their offices and homes, and yes, even their churches."

Terry did not return calls for comment.

Other anti-abortion groups condemned Tiller's murder in strong terms, reports the Catholic News Agency.

Troy Newman, President of the Kansas-based Operation Rescue said in a statement that his organization "has worked for years through peaceful, legal means, and through the proper channels to see him brought to justice. We denounce vigilantism and the cowardly act that took place this morning. We pray for Mr. Tiller's family that they will find comfort and healing that can only be found in Jesus Christ"...

Shaun Kenney, executive director of American Life League, explained that leaders within the pro-life movement "often discuss justice in connection with our mission to end the tragedy of abortion. Today, Dr. George Tiller's life ended in an act defying those principles."

Randall Terry is scary because he believes what he preaches
The prochoice-antichoice issue is all about control, it has nothing to do with life. It is about controlling other people. To that end, no man should have a say in what a woman does with her body, it is none of his business.
And that being said the bible was written by a bunch of men at the Council of Nicea where they decided which gospels were convenient and which weren't and also that Christ was/is divine (the council decided Christ's divinity, he wasn't considered divine before the council of Nicea). Anyone who wants to argue look it up, it is more historical than the bible. In the time of Constantine at his behest. Then those responsible set out to destroy any writtings, etc. that didn't conform. The church/religion/bible is all about control and perfect for those that enjoy being told what to do.

When I hear on the news that the person (Mr. Roeder) who "murdered"
Dr Tiller was executed (and for that matter anyone in a group who breaks
any laws are arrested) then you will know that all of Gods Laws are just
and His law of murder (killing) are not just for "baby killers".
Has there been anything that said Mr. Roeder was doing for God?
That should be a warning to anyone, including Operation Rescue,
not also to take the law (and Gods) into their own hands.

I think the one who wrote Proverbs 29:1
(“A man who stiffens his neck after many rebukes will suddenly
be destroyed – without remedy.” Proverbs 29:1)
didn't read also what the Bible says..........

"Vengeance is mine...says the Lord."

1 Sa 25:31
"...your (God) conscience won't have to bear the staggering burden
of needless bloodshed and vengeance."

1 Sa 25:33
"Thank God for your good sense! Bless you for keeping me from
murder and from carrying out vengeance with my own hands."

How'd he come to the conclusion that Tiller wasn't prepared to meet God? I know lots of people who are strong believers in God -people who would be written off at first glance because we are tattooed punk rock looking people. This guy wouldn't know what was in our hearts, nor would he know what was in Tiller's.

It's kind of ironic that Terry defends his right to call Tiller a murderer while whining that it's not fair that people are saying that his rhetoric motivated the murderer. If it's okay for Terry to call Tiller a murderer, it's only fair to allow everybody else to call Terry an accomplice to murder, isn't it? Sauce for the goose and all that.

Murder is illegal. It is a crime. Abortion is legal. It is not a crime. A person may call it "firdreby" or "iglestoin" but it isn't. Nor is it "murder", by any definition of the word. When a person uses the wrong word to describe something because it suits them, he/she may as well use a nonsense word. For example one might call the anti women's rights position murder, but it isn't. It may be wrong and it may be stupid but it isn't murder.

This guy is practically cheering this murder.

"I am more concerned..." This implies he's not concerned that abortionists are getting killed, and he's not as concerned it will happen again as he is "that the Obama Administration will use Tiller's killing to intimidate pro-lifers into surrendering our most effective rhetoric and actions."

Most effective actions? Like murder? Terrorism? That's what this is. This "effective action" is terrorism. The fact that "only" 3 clinics in the country provide this service proves it's "effective."

Using these terms, "murder" and "holocaust" he's justifying murder, because how can you condemn someone for killing to stop murder, or the holocaust?

This guy is not celebrating that man's life's choices.
If you look at the numbers of these cases, they are not common (and should not be).
When a young man is taken, when serving, there is not the same consideration (the modd r 8or will not even allow the name).

There is no fundamental difference between a radical Christian fundamentalist and a radical Islamic fundamentalist: Both sects believe that any heinous action that they may take is justified by their religion.

Shudder.

If I were Mr. Terry, I would be more concerned about Obama's reaction too.

After all, look at what Obama's predecessor did to terrorists.

Sneak and peek searches, National Security letters, warrantless wiretapping, indefinite detention, Guantánamo, torture, waterboarding, extraordinary rendition. Not to mention two wars, one completely unnecessary, both botched.

Be afraid, Mr. Terry. Be very afraid.

Having heard many "pro-life" speeches I urge others to listen carefully when these holy folks hold forth. Note how often "pre-born" and "unborn" are used as quickly slipped in qualifiers when the "pro lifer" is expressing concern for children. The "unborn" are sacred. Those who exist in the world are characterized and sorted into those who matter and those who don't. The name of the game is people like them.

Neither Randall Terry nor Troy Newman are Christians. They do NOT even know what the term means. They are hateful murder inciting domestic terrorists and should be prosecuted as such.

It is a crime to incite violence. To encourage anyone to commit a violent act is a crime, and they keep getting away with it.

Randall Terry the terrorist, makes a statement the day after a mans murder, that he is concerned about how the President will react, and he should be. This just shows that :

a. he has no respect for life
b. that he knows that he is breaking the law by inciting violence.

Abortion doctors provide essential, lawful health services to women. Why should they have to live in fear?? The only ones breaking the law are the Anti-choice terrorists!!

and he call himself Christian.
this is the main thing I don't understand with these christian fundamentalists. they claim to be Christian and adherents of the Bible yet the first to attack, even kill, people who do not agree with them.
I am a practicing Catholic and truly believe in God so I truly cannot comprehend all the cheating, lying, terrorizing and killing other people these fundamentalists practice because, as far as I know, the religion and the church do not condone, never mind preach, any of these. where are their christian principles? down the drain with their hearts and brains?
And while the Bible is truly a wonderful book, it is over 2000 years old and not reflective of our current world. because if these people do want to follow the Bible to the letter, they should start stoning Gingrich, Craig, etc for their sins as well and should stop using cars, tv, etc. one cannot be selective in their use of the Bible and call themselves Christians.

Don't fret about their choice of the religion of Christianity as a cover for their nefarious beliefs and deeds. Religions that preach and require absolute faith lend themselves easily to exploitation by closed dogmatic minds that thrive on absolutism. A secular saint like Mahatma Gandhi in his teachings of non-violent civil disobediance comes much closer to the core teachings of Jesus than official Christiandom is today.

When an angry mob was at the point of stoning a woman accused of adultery, Jesus' response was: "Let him who is without sin cast the first stone." To the woman, he said only: "Go, and sin no more." Jesus would rebuke the stone-throwing self-righteous vigilantes as resolutely as he would disown the mock-religionists who resort to death in the false premise of preserving life. There are sanctimonious charletons in any culture and religion.

"We must continue to expose them in our communities and peacefully protest them at their offices and homes, and yes, even their churches."

... riiight in other words we should harass and condem them at their place of work, their homes.. and even in the house of god... so I'm wondering if he got the OK from the big guy upstairs for folks to harass others in what is suppose to be a place of solace and peace.... cause if not... they is some big toes to be stepping on.... that's all I'm sayin...

As for the line "continue to expose them" ... if that doesn't sound like he's getting ready for a good ol witch hunt....

This organization should be considered a terrorist organization and be raided by the FBI just like the KKK was, the southern poverty law center did a great job in taking the assets from the KKK and that method should be used against Operation Rescue to seize property and funds to used to put things back in order. The idea of a MAN telling a woman what to do with her body is appalling. If women were to get an organization to have men testicles removed, NO man would want a woman telling him what to do, huh?
