A look at recent cases of abortion-related violence:

_ May 31, 2009: Prominent late-term abortion provider George Tiller is shot and killed in a Wichita church where he was serving as an usher. The gunman fled but a city official said a suspect is in custody.

_ April 25, 2007: Authorities say Paul Ross Evans placed a homemade bomb in the parking lot of the Austin Women's Health Center in Texas. A bomb squad disposes of the device, which contained two pounds of nails. There are no injuries.

_ Oct. 23, 1998: Dr. Barnett Slepian is fatally shot in his home in a suburb of Buffalo, N.Y. Militant abortion opponent James Kopp is convicted of the murder in 2003 and sentenced to 25 years to life in prison.

_ Jan. 29, 1998: A bomb explodes just outside a Birmingham, Ala., abortion clinic, killing a police officer and wounding several others. Eric Rudolph later pleads guilty to that incident and the deadly bombing at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta. He justifies the Alabama bombing in an essay from prison, writing that Jesus would condone "militant action in defense of the innocent."

_ Jan. 16, 1997: Two bomb blasts an hour apart rock an Atlanta building containing an abortion clinic. Seven people are injured. Rudolph is charged by federal authorities in October 1998.

_ Dec. 30, 1994: John Salvi opens fire with a rifle inside two Boston-area abortion clinics, killing two receptionists and wounding five others. Sentenced to life without parole, he kills himself in prison in 1996.

_ Nov. 8, 1994: Dr. Garson Romalis, who performs abortions in Vancouver, Canada, is shot in the leg while eating breakfast at home.

_ July 29, 1994: Dr. John Bayard Britton and his volunteer escort, James H. Barrett, are slain outside a Pensacola, Fla., abortion clinic. Barrett's wife, June, is wounded in the attack. Paul J. Hill, 40, a former minister and anti-abortion activist, is later convicted of murder and sentenced to death.

_ Aug. 19, 1993: Dr. George Tiller is shot in the arms as he drives out of parking lot at his Wichita, Kan., clinic. Rachelle "Shelley" Shannon is later convicted and sentenced to 11 years in prison.

_ March 10, 1993: Dr. David Gunn is shot to death outside Pensacola, Fla., clinic, becoming the first U.S. doctor killed during an anti-abortion demonstration. Michael Griffin is convicted and serving a life sentence.

Well done sir.
You had every moral right to kill Dr Tiller.
He was a known child killer, and had intented to go on killing children.
Killing him to protect the innocent,is a very noble act.
Thankyou, from the people of New Zealand.

Lazy journalism.

Is AP trying to claim that "abortion-related violence" is rare – only two events in the last decade?

Plus, "abortion-related violence"? Be a bit more specific, please: it should be "violence against providers of abortion".

This list only includes incidents where people were killed of injured. For some reason this is presented as an inclusive list of "ab.ortion-related violence". Reading this list might cause one to think that this type of violence is uncommon when it is not. In fact, there have been many more acts of violence than are listed here. A quick online search revelas that bombings, arson and physical attacks are a more frequent occurance (and more recent) than is implied by this partial list.

These people are terrorists. They terrorize and harass the workers and the providers at these facilities on a daily basis. They should be arrested and tried for their crimes. If found guilty, they should serve the time.

They have no authority to speak for God. Let God make the judgment, not some overzealous hypocrite.

Christian Fundamentalist Terrorism.

These terrorists call themselves "pro-life" when nothing could be further from the truth.

Definitions:
TERRORISM: criminal acts, including against civilians, committed with the intent to cause death or serious bodily injury,
ABORTION: the termination of a pregnancy after, accompanied by, resulting in, or closely followed by the death of the embryo or fetus.
FETUS:In humans, the unborn young from the end of the eighth week after conception to the moment of birth.

Get it? I doubt it. Your religion of Secularism blocks you from seeing the difference between good and evil.

George Tiller's death was WRONG. So is Abortion.

The arson of the Eastside Women's Clinic in Olympia WA on January 9, 2005.

There's no difference between killing innocents for Allah or killing them for the 'sake of the unborn.' Murder is murder. I'm old enough to remember when abortion was illegal. Back then it was pregnant women who died in alleyways or the back seats of cars. To hell with all extremists of any bent.

This goes beyond simple murder. This is christian fundamentalist terrorism. It is calculated and deliberate. The leaders of these varied christian terrorist movements call for the "removal" of the physicians involved. The violence against the clinics and their personnel is promulgated and fomented by these terrorist leaders - people like Terry and Robertson.

What happened to this doctor is awful. But if all the writer can come up with is 10 violent actions cited in 15 years, that is pretty low. There will always be some imbalanced individuals out there. Unfortunately it's next to impossible to have a reasonable conversation about abortion because people are so emotional and irrational about it.

15 cases is low? 1 case is high. Oklahoma City bombing. 2 cases is high, twin towers. 4 cases is high, 4 hyjacked planes on 9/11.

All acts of terror started out as small, nearly insignificant and turned out to catch us off guard.

Wait, unless you support the NRA. Then 15 cases is nothing, that is less then a day of gun violence, eh, not even a blip.

These are the incidents that involved shooting and bomb blasts. I'm sure that there are countless other examples of violence that did not involve weapons such as these. Your comment really diminishes these acts of terrorism. I think you have become desensitized to the violence in your country. Truly a shame!

This is not an inclusive list, but seems to be only a list of incidents where people were specifcally attacked and injured . Bombings, arson, failed attacks, and other physical destruction are frequent, on-going, recent -- and not included.

The article is poory written in that it leads one to believe that these are the ONLY violent acts that have been committed.

"other physical destruction frequent, on-going, recent..."Are you talking about abortion?
What happened to Tiller is WRONG.but the FACT is that the life of 4 people have been WRONGFULLY taken. What's the count for the most innocent among us since Roe v. Wade? Estimated 40 MIllion babies have had their lives ended.
"I was sitting in O.R.'s offices when I noticed a fetal development poster. The progression was so obvious, the eyes were so sweet. It hurt my heart, just looking at them. I ran outside and finally, it dawned on me. I said to myself, 'They're right.' I had worked with pregnant women for years. I had been through three pregnancies and deliveries myself. I should have known. Yet something in that poster made me lose my breath. I kept seeing the picture of that tiny, 10-week-old embryo, and I said to myself, that's a baby! It's as if blinders just fell off my eyes and I suddenly understood the truth--that's a baby!
"I felt crushed under the truth of this realization.Abortion wasn't about 'products of conception.' It wasn't about 'missed periods.' It was about children being killed in their mother's wombs. All those years I was wrong. Signing that affidavit, I was wrong. Working in an abortion clinic, I was wrong. No more of this first trimester, second trimester, third trimester stuff. Abortion–at any point–was wrong. It was so clear. Painfully clear. (Norma McCorvey alias JANE ROE)

The Taliban forces it's religious ideal onto others. Pro-Lifers decide what legal opinions they disagree with and force their ideals on others using murder and terror. You figure it out.

If you or anyone you love has ever been pregnant you KNOW that there is LIFE within.
Roe v. Wade allowed for the killing of that life.

Marriage has always been between one man and one woman. Always. Every society and civilization since the beginning of time has understood the intrinsic value of children being ideally raised by a mom and a dad. Now Gay Marriage? Who is FORCING ideals on others?
Funny how you don't see this.

I am "Pro-Life" BUT "murder is murder" and "one crime does not justify another". This killer is guility of first degree murder BUT considering his beliefs "20 to life" should be his punishment. Abortion became legal through constutional means and ONLY though constutional means can abortion be made illegal again. What I don't understand is how is you can murder a baby for the crime of being unwanted BUT YOU CAN'T PUT A LEGALLY COMPENDENT ADULT TO DEATH FOR COLD BLOODED MURDER?

Because dividing cells is not a person. They are dividing cells. Every time you get a sunburn you are committing as much murder as you prescribe here. Your difference of thought is that it is a "miracle of life". It is no miracle. Almost any woman can get pregnant. It is natural, not miracle.

Thus you are willing to constantly infuse your religious beliefs into our legal system.

If you are against abortion, then don't get one. I will not force you to get one. That is your choice.

Seriously, religion wants everyone to have freedoms only so long as those freedoms follow their beliefs.

Democratic Underground has leads connecting Scott Roeder to Operation Rescue. I have forwarded the information to Law Enforcement as a tip. But someone with some time can probably uncover more on this before the Feds even bother to look.
