HEMET, Calif. — Police have arrested a U.S. Marine Corps recruiter on charges of felony pimping and kidnapping and are looking into whether he used sex with a 14-year-old girl to entice potential recruits.

Staff Sgt. Bryan Damone Cunningham, 33, of San Pedro pleaded not guilty to seven felonies last Thursday after police in Orange discovered the teenage girl in a car with Cunningham and two other men. The two men, ages 18 and 19, were potential Marine recruits, police said.

The girl, who has since been returned to her parents in Hemet, told police that she met Cunningham online and had sex with all three men. She also told police Cunningham wanted her to work as a prostitute and had tried to take her to Los Angeles County against her will.

Police said they are trying to determine if Cunningham may have been using the girl to entice Marine recruits.

"It's not proven ... but when you look at it, this is a grown man, a Marine staff sergeant," said Hemet police Lt. Joe Nevarez. "Why would he be taking them out to have sex with a 14-year-old girl?"

Cunningham's attorney, Dane Levy, did not immediately return a call seeking comment Tuesday.

The two potential Marine recruits face felony charges on having sex with a minor.

Cunningham is being held on $1 million bail and has a court hearing June 18, said John Hall, a spokesman for the Riverside County district attorney's office.

Hemet is east-southeast of Los Angeles.

This is sad. I know of four marines who've served in Iraq twice already and one in Afghanistan who would NEVER do something like this nor take part in such a disgusting crime. However - We have these reports of rape of women, children and men in Iraq and Afghanistan by our troops and so when you hear something like this - It makes you wonder what kind of society of men and women are we creating here in the US?
Have Americans been so desensitized by t.v., porn, etc.... that we're creating monsters? Or is it more due to possible mental issues that are created from within our military personnels due to the immense, demeaning and harsh training methods? I mean what is causing this new dehumanizing fad where there is a total lack of empathy at all for the victims?
I just don't get it.

rape has always been used as a tool of war . . . and even good soldiers, when far away from home, demoralized, and afraid, can become perpetrators . . . sad all around

If the charges prove to be correct and true, let this man suffer the fullest consequences for such vile conduct unbecoming a US Marine.

Throw the book at him, and whatever else is handy as long as it is heavy enough to do some damage...

And gay men and lesbians are the people this country hates? On another note...release them into the general population. Better yet, release them to the REAL Marines. I know my Marine friend could take care of this problem and save us a lot money.

There's bad people in every group, but expanding the pool of good marines to good, gay marines, surely might crowd out some of these losers.

Agreed, like I said above... I know four marines myself who'd never do something like this... and truthfully, they'd have taken all three men involved with that little girl aside for a private *** kicking, big time.
It's guys like the one's in this story or the ones raping detainees who make all of our troops look bad, when the vast majority of them are good and would never participate in such things.

Fi as in Fidelis, however it appears SSgt (soon to be Pvt) Cunningham forgot all about why we say Semper Fi. My recruiter from 20 years ago was kicked out for having sex with a potential recruit and other shady adventures. Good riddance, same goes for the potential recruits who decided to willfully participate.

Agreed.....my recruiter from 25 years ago was kicked out as well. Our honor grad from boot camp went home to Miami after 11 weeks at Parris Island to find his wife had been sleeping with his recruiter, who was kicked out too.

There is always that 10 percent, that ruins it for everyone else. Same in the Corps, but that also means that 90 percent of the people are just doing their jobs.

Good riddance to the 10 percent.
