Jon Stewart Fox News

Jon Stewart committed a lengthy opening segment to President Obama's speech in the Middle East last night. He explored the expectations of our president at home and abroad, looked a the rhetoric he used both to further the tenuous relationship America has with even its closest allies in the region and the rhetoric he used to ensure that no one thought he was caving on protection for Israel, advancement for women and an end to terror.

Then he got to the funny part: Fox News' crazypants coverage of the same events. The conservative news network had talking heads and anchors alike on air saying Obama buys in to extremism, that he's disingenuous, that he threw the intel community under the bus. Stewart responded to them by saying, "What a torture it must be for such pretty people to see such ugly things."

Jon I love what you do and you do it so well, please keep that comedy flowing. It reveals the truth and is the best weapon against the serious lies and distortions of the right wing that we could possibly have.

This man and Bill Maher are such brilliant satirists, different types of satire, each one, with Maher's the more cerebral; but, trust me, there is no one of their ilk in Great Britain and they invented the genre of political satire with Sir David Frost in the Sixties.

i am a fan of the daily show and jon stewart but i have to admit i am a bit disappointed by his lackluster performance in going after the democrats in power. he spends most of his time mocking the few republicans holding on to dear life and fox news. other than the sighing at pictures of obama and comment on how cool he is, stewart really hasnt aggressively gone after the democrats in power.

we all know the last 8 years sucked, we are working to repair that damage and moving forward. if i want to watch someone bash fox news, i will watch msnbc. i expect and want more from jon, not this timid half-mockery of the folks in power, like he is afraid to hurt demoratic feelings.

c'mon jon, go after the liberals too, laughing at fox news and a handful of old republicans gets old (at least to me).

The Republicans have spent eight long years tripping over their d!cks. Obama's had what, about six months? And he got handed the wheel after Bush had already driven the bus over a cliff. There just isn't the material there yet to supply Stewart with ammunition.

On the other hand, the Republicans keep trying to justify massive mismanagement of everything they touched, torture, racism, sexism, half a dozen other "ism's" I can't think of right now, and an unwavering dedication to delivering more of the same if they ever again get within sniffing distance of power. It's like they remember watching Leave It To Beaver and think it was a history program. How can you NOT laugh yourself sick at them? The comedy just writes itself.

Extream ! I'm wondering what country they live in and what are they reporting ? Fox don't see anything that is going on. They make up their own news and cut the speeches to say what they want them to say. It's really unbelieveable! I can't even watch them any longer. They need to thank their lucky stars that they live in this country. Because any where else in the world the whole lot of them would be taken out and shot. One thing for sure if this is representation of the Republican party it will be a long time before they get back in office again.

Fox (Faux) news appeals to a more and more ignorant, racist, and provincial element of the US population. The head of Fox News is Roger Ailes, a former heavy in the GOP, and very close friend of the Bush family. Owner Rupert Murdoch is well known for bribing anyone who can do him favors (Newt Gingrich, Margaret Thatcher, etc). O'Reilly spends a great deal of time condemning "billionaire George Soros for supporting liberal causes, but says nothing of Rupert Murdoch spending ten times as much money supporting fascist causes such as Fox News, and hiring professional prevaricators such as Hannity, O'Reilly, Beck, etc., to peddle his biases. It is a wretched news service, and I would bet that the IQ of an average Fox News fan is about the same as that person's age.

Kylecope - you should turn your sound up - the laughter in the audience & the applause would mean that he's saying something funny. You're missing it!!

Most people are getting into the habit of ignoring the GOP, and for obviously good reason. When the Republicans allow the non-elected and the making-too-much-money-as-a-hate-monger-to-run to dominate their message, they should not be surprised that they can no longer when elections.

It is bad for our country to have a one party system, but the Dems now have no choice but to run everything, because the GOP has become the party of the absurd.

They used to show Fox news in Europe. First time I saw it in Austria I thought it was a joke - like the daily show. This supposed news channel had people screaming at each other and stating the mist absurd nonsense that it came as quite a shock that it was in fact "serious" and that Sean Hannity was considered to be a "journalist". The viewing figures were also a shock.

I came to realise that shows like the "Dukes of Hazard" were not so much a comedy as a documentary. Americans of that intellectual calibre do actually exist in their millions. Wow.

Those people at Fox News are c.razy!! They are really ceritifiable. I can't believe they're allowed to call themselves a legitimate news organization. I mean seriously has anyone else noticed that they even look d.eranged?

All their correspondents have a certain look. And yes, it is a rabid, deranged look. It's like they all came from the same factory.
