You don't get to make that decision.

"Racial Polorization", I tried not to laugh to loudly when I read this. Old Charlies career was based on racial polorization.

The headline doesn't seem to match the story. Of course, people want Obama to intervene in New York politics when it comes to giving now more than a trillion dollars to Wall Street. Wish we had Spitzer now, the only guy tough enough to take on the Wall Street fat-cats.

Rehabilitate him; it's been done before. And you are right, he is needed.

Thanks, Charlie. Let's create more Democratic infighting.

Rangel is a crooked disgrace. He is still smarting from Hillary's defeat. Being of the "old school" where blacks is wasn't Obama's time, he thought Hillary was a sure thing. There were several, he included that were promised positions, favors, and clout. Well, this man better worry about his tax problems and other mis-deeds and leave the POTUS alone. As for Patterson, if he were really interested in the well being of the state, he would not run, but would get behind Cuomo to help elect him.

Translation of Rangel's warning: "Stay out of NY primary politics, Prez. You might make them racial, you see, You will be treading on my franchise to decide what's racial in my state."

Would Charlie Rangel have opened his mouth publicly if Rahm Emanuel wasn't out of the country?

I don't think of what Patterson has done since he became Governor. I especially think he made a mistake in the way he shunned Caroline Kennedy and chose a lesser woman for Hillary Clinton's Senate Seat. It is time when people have to realize that crooks and bad leaders come in all colors and I think NY is not being governed well at this time. I don't think Bloomberg should be running for NY C Mayor for a third term either.

The person Paterson chose to be senator -- Kirsten Gillibrand -- is worth ten Caroline Kennedys. She's proving to be an excellent senator -- not a milquetoasty washout, with humongous gaps in her so-called resume. We are very fortunate that we had somebody of Gillibrand's talent waiting in the wings. Appointing Gillibrand is one of the best things Paterson (one "t", please, it shows you follow the news and know what you're talking about) has done since he's been Governor.

Poor old Charlie, is still bitter after Obama won and Hillary lost. You see, he is like the other older AA civil rights leaders who thought it was not Obama time to run for president. So, what they were really saying was, they would not be able to control him or influence him the way they would with Hillary. However, one way for Charlie to win friends and influence others is to pay his taxes.

Really? Rangel does not speak for all new yorkers. Cuomo has a right to run. Rangel does not control the people of ny and to say it could "spark" was just the wrong thing to say. I bet no one was thinking of such a thing until he said it.

I do have to admit he is the only black man in NY with a Brooklynese accent. At least the only one I ever heard.

Rangel talks like an old Je wish guy. Same accent.

Racial polarization? How much sense does that make when NY voted for Obama? I'm a New Yorker, and I will not vote for Paterson, but that has absolutely nothing to do with his skin color. It has to do with his tax policies and his disregard for treaties and the sovereign rights of Indian reservations.

I certainly stay awake nights worrying about the sovereign rights of Indian reservations in New York State. Most voters do, I reckon.

Rangel is disgraceful, his sorry attempt to disrespect the president who happend to be from his own party is trifling. It appears good old Charlie was lying and waiting for issue he could use to attack Obama. So the question becomes, what is really behind this outburst? P.S. Good old Charlie needs to pay his taxes before he tells anyone to stay out of New York.

I'm a NYer and I would never vote for Patterson, nor will I vote for Kirsten Gillibrand. I want competent NYers in the governor's house and the Senate, not nobodies with no competence.

Spot on!

On what basis do you deem Kirsten Gillibrand "a nobody with no competence?" She's worth ten of Carolyn Maloney (I can hardly wait for those debates, should there be a primary). The President, the Clintons, the Democrat establishment, and all of the women's groups all think she's the best choice for senator.

You need to bring Spitzer back. If the sexual behavior of the Kennedys and Bill can be overlooked; why not Elliot? Think that there is any truth to the rumor that he was set up by Wall Street types who found him a little too interested in their activities?

Charlie Rangle need to mind his business. Who the hell is he to tell the President what to do, he better pay his taxes and worry about his own campaign when his time is up.
