Susan Boyle Released From Mental Health Clinic

LONDON — The brother of talent-show contestant Susan Boyle says the singer has left a mental health care facility and is doing better.

Gerry Boyle told GMTV Friday that his sister had been released from the London clinic. She was admitted Sunday, after coming in second place in the "Britain's Got Talent" television show.

Gerry Boyle says his sister suffered from an anxiety attack but now seems "a lot more like herself."

In eight weeks, Boyle went from the quiet life of a church volunteer in a small town in Scotland to global fame.

Whatever else you want to say about Simon Cowell, he is a brilliant businessman, and with SuBo he's struck a motherlode.

Regardless of what anyone says, she is on the brink of a remarkable windfall that most people can only dream of. Her autobiography is going to be a best seller, as is her debut CD.

Her emotional fragility is simply going to make her all the more endearing to the common man and woman who found themselves viewing her video an unprecedented 90+ million times.

Susan Boyle is an incredible singer, I have listened to her 1st performance dozens of times because I LOVE HER VOICE! It was never because her appearance is at odds with her voice, just look at the judges faces when the first notes come out of her, everything disappeared except for her voice and her soul. I can't wait to hear her again, in person or recorded, I'll be supporting her. BRILLIANT!

And, she said, they came to her. Cowell's fake surprise and the other judges was just that. I'm sure there are talent scouts for shows like that, no differently than scouts for sports. Why do you think Cowell was apologizing to her at her last performance on the show? Because the show thrust her into the limelight and they knew by then she was extremely fragile and they didn't want to be s.u.e.d. Instead, check her into a clinic to get her head s.c.r.e.w.e.d. on straighter because he had already signed her to a recording contract. It's all about money, 'ya know.

Of course it's all about money, especially where Simon Cowell is concerned. I agree with you that this whole thing was set up. It was too good to be true. The ugly country bumpkin spinster surprises everyone with her singing chops. A real Hollywood fairytale, if she had managed to pull it off. Unfortunately, from what we saw in round two, she really can't sing that well. This whole thing has blown up in Cowell's face. He is stuck with her.

That's interesting. Where did you read that BGT sought her out? Talent scouts for mass auditions often follow leads on popular locals, so it's not all that nefarious and internecine.

Wish her all the best. Immediate global fame would be terrifying, even people who have all the right backup and experience who get fame slowly find it difficult to deal with. Fame without a sturdy protective foundation would be much more horribly invasive. Imagine the whole world ripping apart every embarrassing detail of your life, judging you, poring over every mistake you make............ aaagh! I have to admit that would be my worst nightmare, not all the money in the world would entice me, unless I was starving on the side of the street perhaps.

I do hope that she moves not to far for her home and gets a place with more privacy (gates etc). I hope she gets handlers and people to keep her safe from all the press and screens her solicitations properly. It is messed up what happened to her. To much way to fast and all without the proper coaching along the way. Anyone was get overwhelmed by sudden fame of this magnitude.
