Liz Watson, Barry Bonds' Wife, Files For Legal Separation (PHOTOS)

Barry Bonds' wife has filed for legal separation.

The former San Francisco Giants' slugger and Liz Watson were married in 1998 and have a 10-year-old daughter, Aisha.

Watson cited irreconcilable differences in papers filed by her lawyer on Monday in Los Angeles Superior Court. She is seeking spousal support and joint legal and physical custody.

Bonds, major league baseball's home run leader, is awaiting trial after pleading not guilty to lying to a federal grand jury in December 2003 when he denied knowingly taking performance-enhancing drugs. The trial has been delayed because of a dispute over admissible evidence.

Bonds' first marriage to Susann Margreth Branco ended in a highly publicized divorce in 1994.

I can't believe some of the comments I'm reading here. For some men, a woman leaving a man has to be about the money, because, evidently, the $ is what YOUR priority is.

But, let's do the math: the dude's on steroids: MUST be a nice companion. He's PROBABLY been bitchy, confrontational, and MAY BE violent, nonsexual. Yep, the perfect spouse! ANY one of those reasons is enough to file for separation.

And, FYI: Just because he's an athlete doesn't mean a thing! Yes, she's going to make sure she's taken care of- everyone does that. But, she's evidently giving him some recovery/n­egotiation time by not going straight for divorce. She might just love her man. AND, you say the women are "suckas" for athletes, but the reality is that a lot of these athletes are "hose." They think it comes with the title.

Wow. Why don't we just wish them well and hope they can work their problems out?
