John Hodgman: We Must Sell California To The Church Of Scientology (VIDEO)

John Hodgman proposed solutions to the California budget crisis last night in a new segment called "You're Welcome." He suggested repealing the anti-marijuana laws, selling the state to the Church of Scientology and having Arnold act his way out of the crisis.

It’s mob rule in California.

It’s kind of like Alabama; just as backwards and bigoted but more ecology minded, and less money. And since the Mormons seem to control that mob (reference prop 8), and lets not forget their magic underwear. With those advantages, they should be the ones that we sell the state of California to. They can have.

The brilliance of John Hodgman is outstanding. He manages to say the most outlandish stuff with a straight face then punch you in the stomach with and undeniable truth.

Look forward to seeing him in the Ricky Gervais's The Invention of Lying, due out in the fall. It has a great ensemble cast and looks like it could be very funny.

This is not surprising. The AMA is a big protection racket for its members. Talk about interest groups.
I live near a major midwestern university medical center. Wanna know who the richest people are in my town?......MDs. Especially, the hotshot specialists with their multi-million dollar homes and their country clubs. Their children are typically spoiled, over-indulged brats. For example, they buy their kids $30k horses and think nothing of it. The sense of entitlement among these families is obnoxious.

Now I'm not saying all doctors are like this but the AMA is the conservative, status quo wing of the medical profession and they are as culpable as the insurers and big pharma; the medical-industrial complex of which they are a part of.
