Julia Roberts Grills Letterman About His Marriage (VIDEO)

Julia Roberts grilled David Letterman about his March wedding to longtime girlfriend Regina Lasko on Wednesday night's "Late Show."

Among other details, she got him to admit that Regina has taken his name and then told the story of how 5-year-old son Harry threw a fit in the car on the way to the justice of the peace ceremony, causing dad to pull the car over.

He then thanked Roberts for some champagne she sent as a congratulations and said he's "never been more in love."

I used to like Julia Roberts and haven't been able to sit through any of her movies since she met her current husband but I liked her on this. I think I like her better married. She seems so much more grounded. She's been married 7 years?! Wow! Time Flies!

Several years ago, when they were both single, she was on and said he had not responded to her invitation to escort her to the Oscars.

Letterman was clearly surprised and said his staff had not passed the info on to him. He seemed upset nobody told him about her call.

If he was faking it, he fooled me.

I think the concern is that about 15 years ago (or more?), when he was possibly still at NBC, she called his people up, because she was looking for Dave to go with her to an event. His people never told Dave that Julia Roberts wanted him to go with her. The story came out after she was married, and she announced the story on-air, and you could tell by his reaction that he was PISSED. I think they have very similar brands of humor, and I think they could have made an interesting couple. I think that even now, years later, they both know that the spark was there.

Yeah, I remember that. He really had a huge crush on her. She invited him to be her date at a premiere and he never phoned her back. The producer of the show never gave Dave the message. He was fired soon after that (though I don't know if it was related). Even now, they have great chemistry and he's still carrying a bit of a torch for her.

I don't know. Why don't you go look it up in the bible? Marriage didn't exist then as it does now. Now it's just a legal transaction that the state is involved in. All that matters is love and commitment. What do you call a woman who has a child out of wedlock. The mother of your child and the woman you love. There's a difference between Dave's relationship, which is a long term one, and Bristol Palin's with Levi.

I agree. Dave's bitterness and anger was palpable as he talked about his wife and son. You could feel the sadness and misery of what his life must have become.

I'm thinking that has to be a joke.

I missed night night but I've heard Dave speak of his son often, never with bitterness and anger. He simply does not talk about "Harry's Mom" he has always kept his private life private. Right after the wedding I did poke around the internet, found a very few photos and lotsof really nasty remarks about her appearance as though it was incomprehensible that a man with that much money would be marrying a woman who wasn't a 22 year old bimbo.
