Golisano has run for governor here in NY many times and never even made a dent.He and Bloomberg may think now is the best time to throw around their billionaire status but my guess is the public won't like it very much...or the politicians they buy off.

This is a GREAT example of how one wealthy individual can buy government. Golisano doesn't represent me, I'm not a billionaire. But now he's got MULTIPLE state legislators representing his personal interests. I honestly hope he goes to jail for this. Make it a lesson for everyone else that tries to BUY government.

Disgusting.

I think people are getting knee-jerk over this, and I have to admit that I got that way. But being a property owner in New York state makes you a marked person for footing the state's "education" agenda, which supposedly was to be paid for by the lottery. (A good question is, where has all that lottery money gone?) New York is notorious, for example, for imposing a gasoline tax supposedly for road building and repair, but then deflecting that money into the general fund, and then issuing road-building bonds that merely add more debt to the state ledger (a debt paid by--ta-da!--taxes). And property tax assessment is a great place for corruption, when businessmen and officials collude to price people off their land so some industry that wants it can grab the property. How many people have seen their property taxes go down despite the crash of the real estate market? I'll bet none--unless they're an industry that gets a tax subsidy.
