Rachel Maddow, Tina Brown, Graydon Carter Salute Arianna In Mirror Awards Video

Arianna Huffington received the Fred Dressler Lifetime Achievement Award from Syracuse University's S.I. Newhouse School of Communications during the school's Mirror Awards luncheon this week.

"Arianna Huffington was ahead of the curve with HuffPo," said Newhouse Dean Lorraine Branham. "She embraced the use of new media, but never forgot that no matter where or how you tell the story, content is still king. This is what we teach our students."

In the below video, played at the luncheon at New York's Harmonie Club Tuesday, MSNBC's Rachel Maddow, Vanity Fair editor Graydon Carter, and The Daily Beast founder Tina Brown saluted Arianna for the role she's played in shaping online journalism.

"Huffington Post has become a defining brand in the world of news, politics, information, and how the internet works and serves us," Maddow said, "because it's a place where everybody stops in at least once a day anytime you're engaged in any way with what's going on in the country."

"I've never seen anybody do something so influential so quickly," Carter said, "and more power to her."

"What's amazing about Arianna is she's always been a pioneer," Brown said. "She does things out there on the cutting edge. No one can stop her when she has a vision. She waited all her life to find the perfect medium for her and I think the Huffington Post really expresses that."
