Just this past week, I heard Sean Hannity on his radio show tell us that Gov. Sanford will be an excellent candidate for the White House in 2012.

What this amount of federal money allows you to do is to pay for all the changes that would've been made under more austere financial conditions... [People are] actually tightening their belts in a way that will make them more competitive over the long run, and at the state level, not becoming competitive over the long run is deadly and so what this medicine out of Washington does is in fact weaken our state in the long run.”

So.... it's actually good for the state to have less money to spend on education because it's more competitive? WTF? This makes no sense whatsoever. Less money means less teachers, no new buildings or infrastructure, and the students lose.

Ya know, I read an article recently about him in Newsweek, and I'll say this about him (which is something I don't say about most GOPers): I don't ha.te him. He at least manages to stay consistently on message about fiscal conservativism. I appreciate that he doesn't seem to devolve into name-calling and that his platform isn't burdened by an evangelical social agenda.

That being said, I am very glad not to live in his state.

The republican party doesn't necessarily need to become a big tent--it simply needs to stop attacking every single policy and stance President Obama makes in such a vitriolic, devisive and reactionary manner. Republicans, as they see it, have legitimate objections to the things the President is currently doing, but their message (if indeed there is one) is incoherent and therefore is LOST in the midst of all the noise they generate:

Calling POTUS a socialist, marxist, America-hating, Jew deceiving, Arab loving, non-American citizen, closet Muslim, particularly when 2/3 of the country voted for him, is the WRONG message.

Not one spokesperson in the republican party, not Steele, not Palin, not Gingrich, not former VP Cheney, not even Sanford--NO ONE instills any confidence in me enough to get my vote for the Republican party as it exists today.

Cheney needs to keep talking. He, Rush, Newt , and their vtriol are the best argument to drive Republican moderates , and independents overt to the Democratic column.

Dems need to keep running the inauguration day photo of Dick Cheney in the wheelchair --- nee Dr. Strangelove -- I m waiting for Cheney to start the rant about the govt conspiracy to fluoridate the water.

One thing I am looking forward to are the endorsement commercials. President Obama had some amazing stuff through his campaign.
