The Obamas' Post-Inauguration PDA: Hand-Holding, Hugs, And The Occasional Kiss (PHOTOS)

Huffington Post   First Posted: 07/11/2009 5:12 am Updated: 05/25/2011 1:25 pm

During the presidential campaign, the Obamas became known for their public displays of affection. But since the inauguration, the first couple has taken it down a notch. As we assembled an album of their post-inauguration PDA, we noticed a trend: harmless hand-holding and sneaked smooches are the new making out.

Check out the Obamas' pre-inauguration displays of affection on the Obama PDA Big News page.

After 46 years of marriage, I look at this wonderful family and know that love and caring remain out there and is still important. It is important to hold hands, to kiss, to touch, to hug, to let your children see this as part of their maturation process. These children know how a man is supposed to treat them, and they will not settle for less. Michelle is an inspiration to everyone. She has managed to fill her life, her husband's life, her childrens' lives, and the lives of Americans with positive thoughts, volunteerism, caring, and reflection. She has earned our respect and I believe she deserves it. I applaud them and hope that they stay as in love as they seem to be.
We are, my husband and I, and it feels good to wake up every morning knowing that there is one person you can depend on and know that they are there for you. And you for them!

It's one thing to preach family values, and another to practice them. The Obamas have love sewn up: husband and wife, mother and father and daughters display the deeply abiding love within their family. It's a delight to see, and a wonderful example of what family values really mean.

It isn't easy giving up your private life, for the whole wide world to judge you on every little thing. What you wear, how your hair look, are you wearing fake eyelashes, heels or flats, are you smiling or angry looking, what you said or didn't say, should you go on a date night or not. When you do go on date night, there are so many people with you, it seem you have no privacy. I remember reading were the First Couple said they have a good marriage, not perfect, they have to work at their marriage just like every other married couple. Bless the First Family, and I will keep them in my prayers. I'm proud of them.

The French President and FL are trying to imitate our President and FL; IMITATION IS THE BEST FORM OF FLATTERY AND THE BEST PART THE OBAMA'S HAV BEEN SWEETHEARTS FOR OVER 20 YEARS AND MARRIED FOR ALMOST 17 YEARS.

Does anyone notice how perfect the posture is of our new President?

What a beautiful couple, so loving and protective of each other, and not overly shy about showing it. We are all so lucky to have President who is so grounded and loved.

The day that all loving couples are able to so show their affection, within the limits of PDA taste, and attract only smiles from onlookers is the day we will all be accepting of all people in love, regardless of race, creed or sexual orientation. That's a goal to strive for - love is love.

I wonder of Letterman will have any jokes to tell about the presidents daughter like he did about the Governors little girl.
11:56 PM on 06/10/2009
You mean the governor's 18-yr old adult daughter who VOLUNTARILY makes media appearances with a baby in her arms while advocating abstinence???
11:57 PM on 06/10/2009
What little girl might that be? The single teenage mother who believes in abstinence?

It is delightful to see such a real human being take on the job of President of our United States. He is not afraid to let us in on a little of his life and he is not afraid to show his genuine affection for his wife. Thank God for Michelle, I have no doubt she will STOP him from getting too big an ego and will keep him real. I, for one, keep them in my prayers every night knowing they are not perfect and in their hearts of hearts are trying to do the best thing for ALL.

with all the hate and ugliness we're seeing from racists, gop and the bad economy, it is good to see pictures of our First Family showing us that love over shadows even the ugliness of times.
