James Von Brunn Was Living Hand-To-Mouth, Increasingly Violent

A white separatist acquaintance of alleged Holocaust Museum shooter James von Brunn told the Washington Post that Von Brunn had lost his Social Security and was growing increasingly despondent and violent-minded in the weeks leading up to the attack.

"He said his Social Security had been cut and that he was barely making it," de Nugent said. "He felt it was the direct result of someone in Washington looking at his Web site." ... He was about to give away his computer, his primary connection to the fringe world of radical racists. He was living hand to mouth.

The e-mails were getting violent in tone: "It's time to kill all the Jews."

According to MyFoxNY.com, investigators found a notebook in the car believed to belong to von Brunn with a list of other targets in the city.

Other locations on the list included the U.S. Capitol, the White House, the Washington Post, and a FOX News location.

Investigators followed up at each of the locations, trying to find out if there were any sightings of the suspect or any correspondence.

NBC News' Pete Williams reported the news on the "Today" show, saying that despite the list of multiple targets and extra ammunition, police believe von Brunn acted alone:

How do you get your Social Security cut off - or were his benefits just cut. But he's trash. What troubles me is that the security guards had no body armor. Body armor would have perhaps saved the security officer's life. The scandal here is that they were assigned by a security contractor - Wachenghut which is a Belgium owned company which has one of the worse records regarding the treatment of their employees. My husband use to work for them and quit out of disgust. The security officers had requested body armor two years ago. This is typical of Wachenghut's tacky treatment of its employees. It has an extensive and disgusting record. They blatantly practice racial and gender discrimination through wage disparities. They need to be exposed.

It could have been a cut in Medicare benefits, which most people consider part of SS benefits.

I took care of my grandmother from 1993 until 1998 & my mother from 1995 to 2000. Both had Alzheimer's & were unable to do the simplest things for themselves, even turning over in bed.

When I started taking care of Gramma, Medicare paid for pretty much all of her medical supplies. When I'd order diapers, I'd also get a box of "chux" (waterproof disposable bed pads), even when I said I didn't need any. Good thing I had them, by the time my mother was at that point, Medicare would pay only for one or the other. It also quit paying for disposable gloves (try changing an adult's diaper without them - yeccchhh). Thank goodness for dollar stores.

I don't know what Medicare pays for these days, but I'm guessing more "non-essentials" are being cut now.
