I'm 5' tall and petite and married a guy 5'7". The taller guys made me look absurd, almost like a doll; shorter guys, not so much, but it all depended on a guy's character. I come from short people on both sides and we like our compactness--we don't take up much space. : )

I'm six fabulous feet tall and tower over my honey when I wear heels. He's never been insecure about it and neither have I. Intelligence, humor, and sexiness *always* trump height.

It only bothers me because I'm 6'6" and living in a place where it's hard to find tall women with good faculty and character to match, but that's not the fault of Christie Brinkley, Susan Anton or any of these other folks. Just circumstance, I guess...

In the 1980s, during the first modern (post-1930s) era of financial excess on Wall Street, the wonderfully satirical editors of Spy Magazine had great fun writing about the "asset adjusted height" of such "altitude-­challenged­" money men as Henry Kravis.

This is more of the same. Nothing changes. Stacks of money are the platform heels of physically short men.

When I was a kid, my father had some sci-fi mags in the bookshelf, and they had really great cover art. One cover showed a timeline going from 1950 to 2010, or something like that, and it showed a typical hetero couple for each decade. The men got shorter and weaker and the women got taller and more robust with each passing decade. I would love to see that again. It was a great graphic! It has stuck in my mind for over 50 years!

There are short men all over the world who have little in the way of material wealth, and yet they get married and find love. The fact that there are short men at all proves that fact.
