President James Earl Carter, III , is the first ex-president to achieve greatness after leaving office. The norm has been retiring giving million dollar speeches and building enormous pompous libraries.
I don't agree with everything he has said or done over the years but I have one thing to say he's persistent and dedicated to peace, equality and justice. Blessed are the peace makers.

Jimmy is one of the few presidents we've ever had who was not a lying sociopath.

T he ex-President is the lone human being who is blunt in speaking the truth in conformity with the facts on ground the rest ex or still in chair, hasn't got the gutts to lift their eye brow in front of Israel government. But funny enough President Jimmy Carter gouted the Israeli the then Government to a peace deal with Eygpt that still holds good. A RARE EXAMPLE OF A TRUE IMPARTIAL LEADER OF THE WORLD'S LONE SUPPER POWER.

I suppose Israeli Govenment be told loudly and clearly that this world is ment for Human beings and not for beasts and their such activities. It is time Israel learnt how to behave like Human and shun beastly habbits.

Supper power Leaders should learn also to behave like supper power Leaders, instead of giving in to the Holocausts remanants activities and beggings. Time is fast approaching when histroy may repeat it self and the holocaust remanants may not fall victims for not leaning lessons from histroy.

Barack Obama is "compelled to speak out" on Iran.

But when Israel broke the cease fire with HAMAS on the very day Obama was elected President and set about pouring flaming white phosphorus on Gazan children, where was Obama's concern then?

Why did he stay so silent while innocent people died?

and frankly, I think it is insulting that so many American warhawks who today weep for Iran's democratic process only months ago were ready to drop bombs on them all and think you are too stupid to see the switcheroo!
02:20 PM on 06/17/2009
Obama still hasn't spoken out against what Israel did to the Gazans. In fact, he shipped more weapons over to replace the ones expended in by the IDF in Operation Cast Lead.

Anyone else feeling like maybe we were barackroll'd?
04:25 PM on 06/17/2009
Yes, yes to Obama's clear-eyed lack of remorse for what our American weapons were doing to Palestinian families in Gaza, but now he is ever so worried about Iranian democracy. Yes, & others who were & are still ready to drop bombs on yet another Muslim country are crying crocodile tears about the Iranian election. Lastly, MSNBC's Rachel whose program last night was assiduously following updated reports by Iranian citizens (not a bad thing) but I remember how easily she & Richard Engels accepted President Bush's old argumentation against Hamas as the Israelis viciously tore into Gaza, killing even children in their own homes. No one except a few like Amy Goodman & AJE journalists were interested in talking to the Gazans on their cells or showcasing their many blogs during the bombing. Even now Gaza is in the closet. How much coverage is President Carter getting with his remarks yesterday that the Israelis are treating the Palestinians like animals, not human beings. Double standards abound & jump out in your face.

God bless Jimmy Carter, the only real Christian president we have ever had.

Jimmy Carter is the most successful ex-president we have. He is also the ONLY high ranking US official with a big brass pair. Sometimes I fear for his safety.

Keep up the great work Mr President. We need you more than ever.

Animals? If the Palestinains were only treated AS WELL as animals they would be a hundred times better off. Palestinians have no human rights under the jackboot of Israeli occupation.

What Israel is doing to those people is SINFUL. The Israelis want no reconciliation and no peace. War suits them fine as it allows them to continue thieving land indefinately. Thus they treat the Palestinians in a war which no forgiveness is possible.

When their time for revenge comes, I hope the Palestinians do not make the mistake the Jews have made - blindly tormenting anyone they could get their hands on - since the real authors of their past misery are either dead or in Brazil and argentina.

I am glad he is starting to display some caring after letting the Khmer Rouge go on a 3-year killing spree in Cambodia.

You can thank Nixon and Kissinger for that one.
06:01 AM on 06/17/2009
It all depends, of course, on what animals you're talking about. Most US citizens have a greater love for their pets than they do most other human beings. Perhaps that's why they can't see the injustice that is being done to the Palestinians.

The pro-Israeli lobby has run out of half-truths to distort so now, apparently, they're resorting to flat out lies about Carter and the Palestinians. Again. Big surprise.
09:15 PM on 06/16/2009
Keep telling it like it is Jimmy! We've heard only one side of the story for too long.. People HAVE been treated like animals there.
12:06 AM on 06/17/2009
Yes - the Palestinians have treated the Israelis like animals for far too long.
02:54 AM on 06/17/2009
Really? And how many Israeli children burned to death by white phosphorous? How many are starving? How many had their homes destroyed by armored bulldozers?
