David Archuleta's Dad In Hooker Bust

MIDVALE, Utah — The father of last year's "American Idol" runner-up David Archuleta (ar-choo-LET'-ah) has pleaded no contest to patronizing a prostitute in a Salt Lake City suburb.

If the 47-year-old James Jeffrey Archuleta avoids repeating the crime by the end of this month, the charge will be removed from his record.

Midvale police Sgt. John Salazar says Archuleta was cited Jan. 14 at a massage parlor. Officers were investigating a complaint from a neighboring doctor's office about scantily clad women at the business.

Court records show Archuleta, who goes by Jeff, pleaded no contest on Jan. 30. He also paid a $582 fine and completed a counseling class.

His attorney, Erik Bauer, did not immediately return a call for comment on Thursday.

Why is this story in here? This kid isn't responsible for anything his Dad does. It's such a private matter and dragging David's name into it is disgusting. If his Dad sees a hooker, it's nobody's business but his Dad's.

It just doesn't make sense... You can pay someone to have sex and film it, and it's called porn. You can do the same thing, but just not film it, and it's illegal and you can be jailed for it??? WTF???

Sometimes tabloids cross a line. I think this is one of those times. I don't see the need for anybody to know about this. Just because your kid is an entertainer doesn't mean you have lost your right to privacy. This guy has to deal with this on father's day weekend. Put another way how would you feel if that was your dad or best friends dad as tabloid fadder. I think that as a gift for the tabloids, someone should give them a sense of shame.

People might have issues with full-on prostitution because of STDs but getting a happy ending is cleaner than making out with random women at a club. This story is half funny because of the religious hypocrisy and half sad that people get arrested for this stuff.
