As President Obama proposes expanding the power of the Federal Reserve, the movement against its closed process continues to grow stronger in the House of Representatives.

The Ron Paul-sponsored bill to audit the Fed picked up another dozen cosponsors over the last several days, with Rep. Louis Slaughter (D-N.Y.), chair of the Rules Committee, marking the 234th signer -- 16 more than needed for passage -- and the 67th Democrat.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) reflected on the growing anxiety people feel about the Fed at her weekly news conference Thursday.

"The fact is that the American people want to know more of the secrets of the temple," said Pelosi, referring to the William Greider book. ("It was required reading in my day," she said.)

Pelosi recounted that when Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke came to Congress to tell its leaders that American International Group needed $80 billion, they wondered where the money would come from.

"Many of us were, shall we say, if not surprised, taken aback when the Fed had $80 billion to invest -- to put into AIG just out of the blue. All of a sudden we wake up one morning and AIG has received $80 billion from the Fed," she said. "So of course we're saying, Where's this money come from? 'Oh, we have it. And not only that, we have more.' So a balance has to be struck as to what is required to run the Fed in a responsible way, but what transparency there should be so that as the Fed even assumes more power, as indicated by what the president had to say, that the American people have more knowledge about it."

It's House leadership's willingness to confront the Fed -- or at least continue to say they'll confront it -- that has persuaded Paul, a Republican from Texas, not to file a "discharge petition" that could force a vote on the House floor.

"People are bugging me -- my supporters are mad at me because I haven't pushed the discharge position," Paul told the Huffington Post on Thursday afternoon.

He had no immediate plans to do so, he said, because Financial Services Committee Chairman Barney Frank (D-Mass.) is continuing to work with him. And a major financial regulation reform package coming from the White House could also be a vehicle to include his measure, he said.

"Some hearings [are scheduled for] next Wednesday and following that there may be some more and there will be a big reform bill. And I think they're open to my suggestions," he said.

"The other side of the coin is the powers to be don't want it. They'll put a lot of pressure on both Republican and Democratic leaders. They'll probably try to get the political benefit of supporting my efforts, while at the same time putting some loopholes in there where we'll not find out what the Fed's really doing. The Fed's powerful," he concluded.

Pelosi, while sympathetic to Paul's bill, added that she wasn't familiar with the details. Paul said he'd take care of that.

"I might catch her up to date," said Paul, smiling and heading back on to the House floor to look for the speaker.

Pelosi: " 'All of a sudden we wake up one morning and AIG has received $80 billion from the Fed,' she said. "So of course we're saying, Where's this money come from? 'Oh, we have it. And not only that, we have more.' "

?!??!?!!?!

This means Pelosi is ignorant of the fact that the (so called) Federal Reserve CREATES money. That's where ALL the money "they have" comes from. She, apparently, thought they actually managed some kind of "reserve." Well, SURPRISE! Nope, the non-federal Federal Reserve manages NO "reserves."

One could have suspected this ignorance of Pelosi, but now we have proof and its implications are profound.

On the serious side of education -- if you have ever studied Western Civilization - I remember having to sit through countless hours of boring lectures from the Professors as they rant their Temple Knowledges to those who were willing to actually absorb the message.

Back in the Days of the Kings of the Earth -- Kings had a few very well known purposes for building "their" populations and here they are:

1) To fight wars!
2) To grow crops and support even more people.
3) To build infrastructures (cities) to house these people.
4) To create systems of economics, eduction and military to return to number 1) which is war.

For those people who don't know or haven't been endoctorinated onto the planet yet - here's to you pardner. You need to get used to it because this is the bottomline. The next battle is going to be so huge the really big Wars so far won't even seem novel to the World Leaders who run the governments that are actually fighting the wars. When each Ruling Family can wipe out a million people in one day - now that's what the next one is going to be like. That will be novel and all the dirty little minds of the journalists that are left -- will have a hayday picking their noses and sniffling while they pee themselves over their stories.

I have to agree with beatbox32...The Federal Reserve is not your benevolent friend. It is made up of several groups of very warfaring families who will take you out if you think you want to change their currency and start making your own. President Obama doesn't do diddly squat that he's not allowed to. Color of people is only a Chess Game ploy. People were created various colors on Planet Earth in order for the truly standup and wage war families to have a better game. The masses of people were created for murdering outright by the governments of the Bankers who created them. Planet Earth was created for the Game of Death and those who rule know this while the masses are still trying to figure out why they keep getting kicked in the teeth and hit in the head. The masses don't have any intestinal fortitude to do anything. Even in the American Revolution - less than one (1) percent of the population fought and won the war. Actually - they didn't win -- they were allowed to become semi-self- governing as long as they did it under certain laws of the King and the Church. Who knows - the next World War will probably have the Armed Forces of India doing battle with the Armed Forces of China. They are the only ones who haven't really stepped up to the plate yet and tried to hit a home run in the Game of Death on this planet.

Humans are your basic idiots. In Iran - a million people marching couldn't take down one single, solitary and very selfish man --- but, indeed lost 20 persons to bullets from this man. Imagine that -- A million people against "ONE" man.

So - when it comes to Bankers - need I say more?

People are idiots who are mostly bottom feeders and they will do what they are told and when given freedom -- they are humble. Instead of each human standing tall and being a mighty warrior who came to Planet Earth to wage war, rape pillage and plunder - they'd rather drink wine, fornicate and allow some self appointed oppressor to bring them down if they don't obey the rules of the oppressor.

People deserve what they get....bottomline.

Nothing on the planet lives very long at all in the scheme of things -- especially animals and insects. Like choosing to swim the English Channel or climb Mt. Everest - humans all come to the Earth to wage war and when they find out how nice it can be here - wimp out and want to stay. The process of creation developing and creating human bodies was not created in a fashion to allow the humans to stay for ever. Human bodies were created to house a drop of consciousness while it morphs into a spirit and then leave the planet and go on back into the portal they got here from - and journey to the next portal for whatever lies next in their journey. The Planet Earth was created to do battle. Fight to the death. Conquer or be conquered. Rape, pillage plunder and all that other good stuff that the Bankers and the Ruling Class forget to tell you before you graduate High School. They instead use it for their own selfish satisfactions - and that's the way it is. The smartest animal wins...but, we all go onto the next portal for the next phase of our individual journeys. Get used to it. You aren't going to stay here for much more than a 100 years max. If you indulge - probably a lot less.

Planet Earth is actually a Planet of Doom...or should I say a Planet of Death. It was created this way in the beginning and has been this way ever since. it is not going to change in anyone's lifetime. Get used to it. You are born and spend a few short years being able to kick ass - then you get old and die. While getting old - you might be one of those seasoned veterans of world politics who realize that Planet Death is here for us to come to Earth and do these self-righteous deeds of bank wars that cause worldwide mayhem...and cast your final thoughts into the suggestion box for those who are in power -- to ponder their next move. Mankind created governments to give himself an justifiable mechanism for conquering each other and if you can get into a seat of power that allows you to indulge yourself - well, sometimes you luck out and can kill 10's of thousands or perhaps millions of other humans. War is necessary for mankind to survive the tumultuous fire breathing planets they distribute themselves on have all chosen to come to.

"Pelosi On Fed: People Want To Know The "Secrets Of The Temple"

Ya Think ???!

I wuz beginning to think that Americans were really buying in to the Obama administration's flacking for "change" - the "CHANGE" of taking America BACK TO the FEUDAL era, when Lords & Nobles could run ENTIRE COMMUNITIES OFF THE LAND at their whim, and NEVER did a Lord or baron have to answer to the peons for anything (much less state finances).

How someone as seemingly as smart as obama could be seduced to believe that "SECRECY" for banksters and financial thieves would be a GOOD THING, especially given the overwhelming American rejection of the cheney-bush administration, will give political and psychology students something to ponder for decades to come....

Here's your temple secret: Men have attempted to make gold from dross since the day they began to spend it. Alchemy is the Black Art of making something from nothing, or something of value out of something base. It requires a certain belief system and a whole lot of hocus-pocus.

Alchemists discovered only one fail proof formula: Convince the upper classes that they had the power to make them rich beyond their wildest imaginations. These stories always ended badly as each tall tale unraveled. Many were put to death for their treachery.

One day a clever money changer discovered that he could loan out his gold reserves many times over just by printing more and more paper money and collecting interest on the debts. So long as depositors didn’t all claim their gold at once the banker was, so to speak, golden. Thus fractional reserve banking was born.

These same bankers also discovered a very clever way to profit from the down side (inflation): As too many paper dollars chased too few goods, local economies inevitably crashed. Unable to pay back their debts the people were forced to relinquish their worldly goods to the bankers.

The bankers found themselves with vast tracks of seized lands and foreclosed properties.Once the paper money they issued was finally rejected by the townsfolk the bankers then used their gold reserves to purchase anything else they wanted at fire sale prices.

The Fed is just a modern variation on the same old story.

This scam is as old as human civilization. Even in Babylon they had clay money, well bills of credit, that functioned as money. So sad that it continues today.

great comment! fractional reserve banking, and paper money, in and off themselves are not completely evil: in some cases, they really CAN provide for massive increases in wealth-creation and great commercial & social successes. WWII (the massive EXPANSION of production to meet the war challenge in FOUR SHORT YEARS) the textbook example, but the PC/internet boom of the (later portion of) 1990s another example...
and the famous Italian Rennaissance was a direct product of the commercial (trade) and BANKING successes of Italian & European city-states. (The Medici started out as traders, then bankers, before becoming royalty.)
But the Rennaissance provides a perfect example of how SUCCESS can GO TO THE FINANCIAL LEADERS' heads - the Church got carried away with its WORLDLY WEALTH and beauty (the manic urge to fund the building of St. Peters led directly to the sale of indulgences), and started TAXING the rest of Europe to the point of rebellion - leading not just to the Protestant Reformation (Martin Luther all indignant about the sale of indulgences) but fierce resistance to Rome within Catholic states as well. (again, for example the Medici & Florence.)

As with everything in business and life, it is "ON THE MARGINS" or "TO THE DEGREE" that paper money and fractional banking are ABUSED (by lack of oversight) that is the problem.

Ohhhh Nancy! If you think that throwing us one little chicken bone with assuage the masses, you're sorely mistaken. It's about action, baby. And from what I've seen of your actions thus far, I'm not impressed.

One of the few intelligent comments she has ever made.

Put the FED under FEDERAL control.

Make sure you understand the difference.

Too bad it's a comment made from ignorance. She doesn't even know the Federal Reserve doesn't manage any reserves - "where'd you get the money?" Indeed! "Well, mam, we just created it out of thin air - don't you know how our monetary system works?" Appalling.

Actually no. The US Dollar is made of zeros to the left of the decimal point in bank accounts. It is, actually, made of _nothing_at_all._ The currency in circulation is "chump change" compared with the money that "exists" in bank accounts - and the Fed can make more at any moment merely by "loaning" money to other banks.

This is how our "money supply" is created. It has nothing to do with paper or linen.

I hope Pelosi does the right thing for a change. She has only accepted $215K from Banking and Credit card lobbyists, http://maplight.org/map/us/legislator/408 and this is chump change to a woman of her obscene wealth. Perhaps I can hope that she will actually represent her constituents and the American People for a change. I won't hold my breath, though.

I want to see change I can believe in. Full Federal Government and Federal Reserve transparency is change I can believe in. I don't think it will come although I am cautiously optimistic.
