tmz.com:

Michael Bay sent a scathing email to Paramount Studios before the release of "Transformers 2," complaining in effect that his famous director friends would be shocked at the way Paramount was promoting the flick.

We've obtained an email dated May 4, 2009 -- from Bay to Paramount head Brad Grey, along with a bunch of other Paramount honchos. Bay complains bitterly that Paramount's ad campaign for "Transformers 2" was tepid and ineffective.

I've heard horror stories from those who worked on the set of the first "Transformers" set, where Bay ran the production like it was his own personal dictatorship. There background extras were treated like house slaves serving at the pleasure of the house master, firing them at every personal whim even as he was viciously eviscerating his cast and crew to tears.

Do you think it's worth working under such a hostile environment with a power-tripping, megalomaniacal tyrant masquerading as a film director? I don't think so.

I had the distinct displeasure of working with Michael Bay when he was a tv commercial director - before he "hit the big time." He was obnoxious, egomaniacal, unimaginative and behaved like a baby when he didn't get his way. I'm sure he's still the same but only 100 times worse.

Wow....I can't believe that so many have such hate for Michael Bay. He's just a director. Who cares?

What's the deal with headlines using such inflammatory titles. Attacked? This makes sound as if physical violence occurred. TMZ is such a pathetic show. All they do is stalk people at restaurants and airports and then make fun of people. They are a bunch of scrubs who have no purpose other than to vicariously follow celebrities. They are dumbing down society with their juvenile antics.

This is why when Jay Leno does his skit Jaywalking and he asks someone who the Vice President is - they don't have a clue. It's embarrassing for all Americans that too many citizens can't even name the branches of government or name a single Supreme Court Judge.

The only reason I wrote this is that I hope others take notice and they are taken off the air. It's sad that there are some people who know more about useless celebrity trivia than what really matters.

I see a lot of disparaging comments...not sure why. I am a lot older and never grew up with Transformers...but the movie was decently done, the sequel might even be better. The action, the cgi was perfectly acceptable for a popcorn movie...why the grief? oh...and he is absolutely right about the advertising...somewhere between non-existent and ineffective. Do the big robots need to rap or breakdance, what?

Michael Bay can't be treated like some ordinary schlockmeister. Bay is the Stanley-Freaking-Kubrick, the absolute GOLD STANDARD of schlockmeisters.

The movie promotion is "tepid and ineffective" because Bay's style of direction is "cliched and adolescent".

Yes, but where Chris Nolan is considered an artist, Michael Bay is just some guy who makes 2 hour commercials selling toys. All his movies are largely forgettable except for how ridiculous they become. In the end, everything Bay does will be forgotten, even becoming the punch line of a joke whereas Nolan will be admired and celebrated and studied for the genius he is and the vision he had.

If Bay is worried about what his famous director friends think of him, he should start learning how to direct talent and not tell stories with explosions and high speed chases and CGI created by truly talented people.

The difference between a director like Michael Bay and Chris Nolan is almost like eating a bag of Pork Rinds versus a Kobe Steak for dinner. Sure, its technically "food", but one is exponentially more fulfilling and memorable than the other.
