Forget the big names for a moment -- Mia Wasikowska is going to steal this movie. Her work on the first season of IN TREATMENT on HBO was astounding. She may be "unknown" to most, but she WILL be a star.

I am not too sure how I feel about this Tim Burton movie. Of course I think Burton is a genius! And I love his collaborations with Johnny Depp. Johnny is uuber talented, and owns every role he plays. But the makeup for The Mad Hatter in Burton's Alice In Wonderland is freaky. it kind of reminds me of Pennywise from Stephen King's 'It'.

However the Tim Burton 'Alice In Wonderland' is to be shot in 3-D so it will be super-trippy. Just I don't know how much Mad hatter I can handle without freaking out as I am scared of clowns.

Weak! typical Tim Burton, visually esoteric but film will be a DUD! it looks to gay parade and not dark magical enough! awful weak dialogue I am sure like every Burton film. He should not have been allowed to make Alice and Wonderland. It's going to suck like Willy Wonka...

Another creepy Tim Burton movie with Johnny Depp. Exciting. Tim Burton's one trick is to make things weird: weird does not always equal wonderful or worth watching.

Actually, he's remaking Alice the American Mcgee videogame. I am SO excited, seeing as I love Depp and Burton and I love the demented classic. I've know about this for an extremely long time, and I simply can't wait!

This looks like something new and exciting and original. Thank you Johhny Depp for keeping your refreshing artistic integrity! As for Miss Mia Wasikowska -- Uhm, she's not a newcomer -- she played what should have been an Emmy award-winning role as the suicidal gymnast Sophie on the first season of In Treatment on HBO. She was so subtle and fiery -- she's a perfect Alice... This is gonna be huge! Yea!!! [Dali smiles contentedly in his grave...]

Mia was the best thing about the first season of In Treatment...an incredible actress for someone so young. She also had a small role in DEFIANCE w/ Daniel Craig. Can't wait to see her as Alice...

I look forward to seeing this film, I have always liked Tim Burton, even though he has had his share of duds. Charlie & the Chocolate Factory was CGI overkill and Depp's character was a bit too Michael Jackson for me...however it followed Ronald' Dalh's novel much closer than the Gene Wilder cotton candy version as Dahl's novel, which has a bit of darkness and creepiness to it.

I find it amusing that people are criticizing the choice of a 19 year old to play Alice...well that has happened in Hollywood quite a bit. Dorothy in the OZ novels was about 9 or 10, but since Shirley Temple was not available, we got a teenage Judy Garland. I think most people would not criticize that choice,

Actually they choose a 19 year old because the Alice in this version is a teenager. They made up a completely new plot. Like some kind of movie sequel to the book. I'm not looking forward too it. I think the books were perfect as they were, they should have just made it a more accurate movie version of the books.

Actually, Roald Dahl wrote the screenplay for Gene Wilder's version. It was cotton-candy-ish because it originally was intended to introduce a new candy bar. The candy bar melted prematurely in the warehouses so the movie was left to stand on its own.

I like both versions for different reasons.

Can't wait to see this one, though.
