New Jersey Girl Posts Nude Photos Of Herself, Gets Probation

TRENTON, N.J. — A 14-year-old New Jersey girl who posted nude pictures of herself on MySpace.com will have child pornography counts dropped.

The Passaic County Prosecutor's Office says the girl must undergo at least six months of counseling and probation and must stay out of trouble. If she does, all charges will be dropped.

The Clifton teen was initially arrested and charged with possession of child pornography and distribution of child pornography. If convicted on those counts, she could have been required to register as a sex offender.

For the DA to even consider charging her with such crimes is in itself shows how badly written these laws are. The poor kid is confused, maybe has other mental issues. She needs hours of counseling not any form of criminalization.

When the law gets to the point where intent has to be guessed at, the laws need to be eradicated. But that is the problem, the feds, law enforcement does not like doing away with murky laws that grant them so much authority. Clearly some of these laws really do not serve the public's interest, much like the war on drugs, or the war on terrorism. We need a war on stupidity.

Teenagers have always done stupid stuff including getting naked when they probably shouldn't. Remember skinny dipping? The only difference is that the prevalence of digital media increases the chance that teenage stupidity will be recorded for posterity. (Or deliberately posted online by exceptionally stupid members of the teenage species) Unfortunately, stupidity isn't a crime, so why are prosecutors wasting their time on it?

if by vampire books, you mean the twilight series, then you are gravely mistaken. while its not he best series i have ever read, i am on the third book and there is yet to be sex or nudity. but i do agree it is hard for a gir to know her role in society when she is constantly bombared with sexual images.

Although seemingly a bit overboard, and while using laws made to protect minors from exploitation, there needs be some way to protect foolish teens FROM THEIR OWN foolish actions. If the money spent on this case is sufficient to teach her the dangers of when she did, and perhaps other teens as well, it is well spent. If she were my daughter, I would want this to happen, because anything less would be considered a joke.

The GOP has decided to propose a law requiring all new born children to be fully dressed while still in the womb. Any child born nude will be prosecuted as a purveyor of pornography and any parent filming the birth will be arrested for child pornography and soliciting images of nude children.

It appears we finally have returned to sanity and these modern day religioius zealots our example of the "Taliban in America" have been put into the corner for a time out, and common sense is returning to not criminalize a teenagers foolishness! Imagine how this young girls life would have been ruined a life time sex offender for a stupid thing in her teenage life! So, lets say I have a gun license and out my stupidity, I felt it will be fun to shot myself in the arm.

And I actually shot myself in the arm, will I be charged with "Assault on a human being with deadly weapon'?


If that answer is truth, it then means if I had died in the process, a murder charge will also be in the cards or lets assume; I died or fainted or anything but the paramedic did their thing and I regained conscienciouness, I guess "Attempt murder will be in the card right"?. Do not get me wrong, I know I can be fined and rightly so, to cover the state's expenses on my behalf and I will sure deserve another hefty medical bill in the mail, but "Attempt murder charge" is crazy and is as stupid as the alleged action I took against myself.

If the law makers things, this is a legatimate course, they should pass a law against stupudity and prosecute crimes like these under that code.
