All the homes except for Ed Bagely, Jr.'s are just window dressing. That guy and Bill Nye, the Science Guy are true celebrities that practice what they preach.

I mean, it's great that they are making their homes energy efficient, but who besides celebrities have millions to spend on renovations?

What ever happened to being energy efficient for the sake of being energy efficient?

Until truly green homes are being built for and occupied by the folks earning $50K/ year, we've got nothing. These homes are great, but until they are the norm it's just ego-stroking for the wealthy few.

New Mexico recently passed a law, modeled after one in Berkeley, allowing homeowners to finance solar photovoltaic power systems with 20-year, actually requiring counties to make such financing available.

Now the folks earning $50K/year can do the single greenest thing possible, power our homes without any coal or nuclear waste.

I loathe stories about green celebrity homes. They live in monstosities and are way overboard.
Big deal they can afford all the new green stuff, Joe Blow worker can't. For him to be green he does the obvious thing. conserve. Conserving saves more than all the stuff they have.

LIsten, redecorating you 10,000 square foot home with recycled tiles does not exactly make you green! Come on.

No, powering their home with solar panels makes them green.
"... an over-sized, 6,000-square-foot home, but the recent estimated $20 million green renovation--including recycled tiling and sustainable building materials--help keep the mansion's footprint restrained. Even better: three roofs’ worth of solar panels take advantage of that celebrity perk--living in Malibu--by harnessing the climate's natural energy."

And their house is 6,000 sq ft, not 10,000. Why do you have to make stuff up?
