Danny Davis Polling For County Board President Run

Danny Davis Polling For County Board President Run

Another big local name is considering running for Cook County Board president.

U.S. Rep. Danny Davis is forming an exploratory committee to weigh a run for County Board chief, Abdon Pallasch reports in the Sun-Times. Davis commissioned a poll which his spokesman told Pallasch was "very favorable" toward a prospective run and had him seven points in front of County Commissioner Forrest Claypool, the assumed front-runner who abruptly withdrew from the race last week.

It was not reported how Davis polled against embattled incumbent Todd Stroger or any other prospective candidates. Davis is planning to meet with Stroger to discuss the seat, according to the Sun-Times.

Ald. Toni Preckwinkle, Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart, Circuit Court Clerk Dorothy Brown, Cook County Commissioner Larry Suffredin and Cook County Assessor Jim Houlihan are all considering the race.
