I Like ItI Don’t Like It

As the world mourns the death of Michael Jackson, it will not only be the songs by which we remember the King of Pop. Michael revolutionized the art of the music video -- using choreography, costume, dance, drama, celebrities and, of course, his own persona to create something visually spectacular to go with his music. We will always remember M.J.'s videos. Here are the best of the best (click here to see HuffPost's Michael Jackson Life In Pictures slideshow and here for an M.J. style retrospective.) :

Rock with You (1979)

Don't Stop 'til You Get Enough (1979)

Billie Jean (1983)

Beat It (1983)

Thriller (1984)

We Are the World (1985)

Bad (1987)

Bad was already one plastic surgery too far. He looks more like Janet. And he doesn't look black anymore. He should have stopped at Thriller and Beat It. He was so handsome. While these videos show the artistic growth, they also show a disturbing mental deterioration. He becomes whiter and more caricatured, and more lost. If only he could have been content to love who he was. As he feminized his features, he tried to become more macho, as he whitened his skin, he tried to become more 'black'.

I think the ultimate lesson is that money can buy you anything but peace with yourself.

I can't take my eyes off his face, as it was before the plastic surgery and the skin lightening. It's also a pleasure to see his hair again in its natural state. The unaltered Michael Jackson was drop-dead gorgeous. My heart aches for him, because the progressive mutilation of his appearance over the years seemed to express an inner suffering that I can only guess at. God bless this man. May he rest in peace.

RIP Michael Jackson....

Bad and on back to the days of Rock with Me are where you'll find his best work. Thriller was easily his best album. I'll always hold Michael close to my heart and soul because he, before anyone, taught me to dance well. Not just hopping around flailing madly. He taught me to bust moves that look and feel cool to the music. I think Michael's music was meant for us all to dance to because he loved dancing so much. It's SO important, dancing and Michael knew this. Michael was just a musical genius (this fact cannot be stressed enough...he was 1 in a billion genius composers) in all of it's facets from writing to the physical interaction with it. MJ will NEVER be forgotten!

Thriller takes me back to eagerly anticipating it's world premiere on MTV. i was about 14 and glued to the tv set watching the amazing dance sequence. no amount of homework could have torn me away from it. every generation should have their own heroes, so that when they get older and go through life they can look back and smile with fondness and feel they were a part of a special time that no other generation shared. and, for awhile, michael jackson was a superhero to many kids my age then.

i've always been proud to be a part of Generation X. but tonight, after watching Thriller again, i'm even prouder.

I'm so happy these are all lined up. "Black or White" is still my favorite. His genius will live on. Thank you, Michael, for the music and the memories. Godspeed.

"Beat It" is one of the best songs to date, "Thriller" is the best music video to date, Thriller is one of the best albums to date. What a tragedy. It looks like his personal physician indirectly or directly lead to MJ's death. What is a Cardiologist doing administering high potency narcotics to someone suffering from "chronic pain?" A Cardiologist doesn't know squat about treating chronic pain.

LEGEND.....I remember when he was about to drop a new video how it was made into a primetime event, like Black or White and Remember the Time. Mike grew up a boy who had to be a man so fast and became a man who wanted to know what it was like to be a boy. So sad. All his life he was looking to live a peaceful life. I hope now he has found it. Thank you Mike for leaving us with such great music which will no doubt continue to influence others as the years go by. Your talent was immeasurable and will never be replaced. R.I.P.
