I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Bears

A Fox News' Cleveland affiliate has broadcast what has to be the most amazing "BEARS ARE ON THE LOOSE" report, ever. Seriously! These guys went all out to demonstrate the dangers that a local community is facing from bears. Or a bear. Or something. But whatever, because what's important about this clip is this: PROP COMEDY!

Yes, you will enjoy the moment where the reporter, on location in some woods, reveals a cardboard cut-out of a ferocious bear, and says, "This is what the bear probably looked like. Except real." And, uhm...THREE-DIMENSIONAL. But, trust me, you will fall in love all over again, when that cardboard cutout makes its second appearance. And things just get more amazing from there. Wait for the moment where the rabbit from Donnie Darko shows up to give his testimony.

Seriously, I sort of want to invite this entire news team over to my apartment and bake them cookies. I don't even care if this is real or not. That's how awesome they are.

I just made an account to post here and say that I Stumbled upon this video, only to find that not only is it in my hometown of Cleveland, but it in fact took place only several miles from my home, and the lady being interviewed, Tina, was MY FREAKING BUS DRIVER IN MIDDLE SCHOOL.

The headline is deceptive. It would have been the best segment ever if a bear had come in from the side and eaten the reporter as he stood on the side of he road talking and waving his arms dramatically. Now THAT would have been the best ever.

Don't you people watch Colbert? Bears are GODLESS KILLING MACHINES! They want's to take our women and pik-a-nik baskets! There's nothing funny about them at all!

I especially enjoyed how the poster tried to point out its link specifically to Fox News. As fun as it is to bash on them, this was only very loosely affiliated with the cable news channel. This was done by a local news station on the Fox network (i.e. the Fox channel you'd receive OTA or with basic cable). The way I understand it, the Cleveland station that ran this is probably just a franchise of Fox, and thus not even owned by the same people. I could be wrong on that last point, though.

Why Faux News, huh, because he was a BLACK bear. Then they called the police on him, bear wasn't even doing anything, just minding his own business. All because he was a BLACK bear, she even identified him as a BLACK bear when talking on the phone with police. Why couldn't she just say she saw a bear?

Just kidding, had to get my black injustice on for a minute. Funny news report. LOL.

"I'm good. I'm... uhh... faster than a bear."

Right on.

The guy's editor was probably all over him to incorporate more graphics into his stories.

He certainly overcame that reportorial deficiency though. And no doubt some nifty chyrons accompanied the cutouts, towit, "Non-bear" and "Non-rabbit." (or "Non-squirrel" or "Non-gopher" or whatever that "Non-pet" was).

If I have one criticism myself it's that the reporter apparently never queried the park ranger about the hazards of pic-i-nic baskets. That's something the public really needed to know.

That is the most wonderful thing I have ever seen in my life. The rabbit seriously places it in the TV Journalism Pantheon of Genius. If there is a God, this was actually broadcast on the local news.

The scene showing how bears climb trees made me laughed so hard my sides hurt.

Nice to see a refreshingly cute news story that doesn't include sex and politics.

And YOU thought a small-time local news station's coverage would suffer because they can't afford fancy graphics...
