Evergreen Chapel: Time Reports Obama Chose Church At Camp David, White House Denies

Time Magazine reported Monday that President Obama, after months of visiting different places of worship, had chosen the church at Camp David:

For the past five months, White House aides and friends of the Obamas have been quietly visiting local churches and vetting the sermons of prospective first ministers in a search for a new and uncontroversial church home. Obama has even sampled a few himself, attending services at 19th Street Baptist on the weekend before his inauguration and celebrating Easter at St. John's Episcopal Church.

Now, in an unexpected move, Obama has told White House aides that instead of joining a congregation in Washington, D.C., he will follow in George W. Bush's footsteps and make his primary place of worship Evergreen Chapel, the nondenominational church at Camp David.

However, the White House has dismissed the report as erroneous, saying Obama is still searching for his church.

The president and first family continue to look for a church home," White House deputy press secretary Jen Psaki told Politico by e-mail. "They have enjoyed worshiping at Camp David and several other congregations over the months, and will choose a church at the time that is best for their family."

I've concluded in all liklihood he probably is simply because you can't be religious and not be dogmatic, self righteous and judgemental and since he is non eof those things I'm guessing he is not into religion at least not as christians see it.

Bush the father mentioned in one interview that he not only thinks an atheist cannot take to any office in US, but even cannot be a US citizen.

Our founding fathers would be of course ashamed to hear that.

Well, in our country it is too early for a politician to admit that he/she is agnostic or an atheist. Or may be he is a believer in some mild version of .... something... but this does not have to be constantly, at all times, tied up to a certain church.

i also don't cheat on my husband. I don't steal money from others. I don't bad mouth folks who are different from me. I have never hanged anyone from a tree. I mind my own business. I read. I got married before I had children.

Leave our wonderful President to his own devices. He seems to me to have done very well, without revealing a "church home".

Agree, I was raised by two incredibly moral atheists. They, as well as myself and my husband need no church guidance, we are living a very moral, hard working, tax paying and giving to those in need existence.
