I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Joe the Plumber made it back onto the political scene for, as Olbermann describes it, "fomenting violence against elected officials." According to the Wasau Daily Herald newspaper, Joe the Plumber, while speaking in Wisconsin, more than once asked about Senator Chris Dodd, "Why hasn't he been strung up?" Olbermann awarded Joe the gold in his "Worst Persons in the World" segment.

Joe also proved that his off-the-cuff public speaking needs a little more work when he told the crowd that the Founding Fathers "knew socialism doesn't work. They knew communism doesn't work." Alas, these ideologies did not exist yet.

An anonymous donor who funded ads urging atheists to reveal themselves to bolster the cause of atheism was awarded the bronze medal for, well, remaining anonymous. Rush Limbaugh took home the silver for interpreting a 5-4 Supreme Court decision reversing a case nominee Sonia Sotomayor upheld as not only indicting Ms. Sotomayor as a racist, but that the verdict, properly reflected upon, was actually a 9-0 decision instead of one that settled along rough ideological lines.

Joe The Plummer, Sarah the Governor,McCain the Maverick,. Good thing these cartoon characters include thier title because thier actions hardly imply what they really are.

You people have it all wrong. "Strung up" is technical plumber terminology, similar to when an electrician says "Dodd should be plungered or given a swirly."

Olberman said that on his 'show?"

In that case, fortunately no body heard him.

Nobody except the 1.1 million people that tune in to watch him, right?

Facts get in the way of your reality, don't they? Sorry about that.

Got to love state run TV, very objective of course........wow....never thought i'd see TV programs that are run by the gov't........easier of course to brainwash the uneducated masses......

FOX is not state run.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 03:13 PM on 06/30/2009

I guess that depends on what state of mind your are in. The closed minded state does run Fox. Lot's of viewers and participants out there. I understand that thinking is painful or traumatic to some.

Whether it’s post-election cable news hangover and/or seasonal declines as the weather improves, Countdown with Keith Olbermann hit its lowest ratings of the year in May down over 30% in the cable news adults 25-54 demo target from January. LOL

The people who watch Olbermann are not the type of audience who tune in daily like automatons in group think to form their thought processes like FOX viewers.

In other words they have a life and a few original and independent thoughts.

It's a slow news year compared to 2008. And, contrary to FOX viewers, Olbermann's audience has a life and goes outside in the summer. FOXheads just pace around their houses muttering to themselves, every now and then yelling out "THAT'S RIGHT BILL!" at the tv.

I think the fact that his name isn't Joe and that he's not really a plumber tells you all you need to know. Why not just call him Charlene the Marsupial?

The piece of how the Founding Fathers knew communism doesn't work, is really proof positive that the majority of Conservatives don't have the slightest clue what they are talking about and simply regurgitate things they hear on the right wing TV and radio shows.

Those are the ones that prove the saying,
"Talk sense to a fool...and he calls you foolish" - Euripides
They are spoon-fed bias, fictional information, in complete denial of facts.
Reluctant to seek the truth.

Does "worst" include stupidest, or would that fall into another catagory?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 01:51 PM on 06/30/2009

"Worst" and "stupidist" blend together and the effect is unfortunately occasionally somewhat like unnoticed (until it's to late) fireants.

Republicans are increasingly resorting to their Bullying, Hate, and Irrational rhetoric in sight of the major shift in political opinion of the United States. GOPees and their supporters (what's left of them) seem to be having problems coming up with any new and beneficial ideas.

Well, this is the face of the "dumbing down" of the American education system that has taken place over the last 20-25 years. People used to know a whole lot more and could do well in society with a high school education. For those who venture out into the world with a high school education, their English skills are atrocious, their math skills are horrible, and they can't carry on any kind of sophisticated conversation (like Joe the Plumber) because their grasp of history, economics, civics and the arts are way below the standard that they used to be. As the child of two educators and as an educator myself, the lack of focus on education pains me every day. I think that is what bothers me so much about the far right of the Republican party. There was a complete intellectual vacuum in President Bush and most of his administration. There continues to be that in the Republican party. It didn't used to be true. To wit, Teddy Roosevelt was brilliant, as was Abraham Lincoln. The Republican party now has no intellectual prowess (creationism being one example) and combined with an absolute stubborness to embrace any ideas except their own, we see the Joe the Plumbers, the Glenn Becks, the Hannitys, etc... drumming information into people that isn't based on fact or argument. We need school again!!!

Yes, thank you!!!!!! Someday, I can imagine Joe the Plumber's picture below the definition of "mediocrity" in the American Standard Dictionary. The sad fact is, it's inane buffoons like him who end up in the public scene whilst far more talented and deserving people are ignored because they might be "elitist liberals." As a good friend of mine says:

You can't fix stupid!

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 12:52 PM on 06/30/2009

Whomever coined the phrase "Ignorance Kills" could have been talking about the modern-day incarnation of the Republican party.

You are both right, and you reminded me of something my father used to say. "You can't make chicken salad out of chicken sh*t." There's a lot of wisdom in that.

Republican's hate Keith Olbermann because he exposes them with their own words. Unlike the media star's of the right wing, olbermann does not make things up. He just shows what the conservatives say.
