I'm so disappointed in Obama! I didn't just vote for him, I volunteered my time to help get him elected. I guess really had no choice seeing the potential horror of the alternative! Nevertheless, I feel like I got suckered into believing in "hope and change". I now realize that there's not much core difference between the two parties. The only real difference, one party represents the "hate for God" crowd and the other side is spineless. The repubs are at their lowest in power and influence in the last 30 years, yet the class bullies still seem to terrify the "nerds".

By electing Obama we showed that wanted an end of the sale of the American soul. Yet we see now that even though the bullies have been weakend, just the idea of a congressional wedgie or a sentatorial stuffing in a locker, has dems running for shelter. THAT's NOT what I gave my time or vote for!

The possibility of a McCain/Palin whitehouse terrified me enough that we considered leaving the country. Seems as we're back to that place. Its disgreaceful that we've wasted the sacrifice made 233yrs ago and we should be ashamed of ourselves. I love my country BUT I love my kids more and in fairness to them, we need to be where they'll get the best opportunity for a good future. Doing nothing but complaining while OUR govt officials sellout the American dream isn't something I want to do anymore!

Dear MoveOn member,
The U.S. House passed a huge energy bill Friday. Lots of good people are applauding the passage of this legislation. But here's the ugly truth:

Big Oil and Coal lobbyists, working in cahoots with some conservative Blue Dog Democrats, weakened the bill terribly—it now falls far short of President Obama's campaign vision to transition America's economy to clean energy and create millions of new jobs.

In fact, the bill repeals a key part of the Clean Air Act and doesn't do nearly enough to shift America to renewable energy—so instead of a boom in solar and wind, the bill locks us into dirty coal power for another generation.1

Working with progressive champions in the House, we were able to achieve modest gains at the eleventh hour (see details below). But saving the Clean Air Act and fixing other problems with the bill as the fight moves to the Senate will require a massive grassroots outcry.

So we have a decision to make: Should MoveOn launch a full-court press to fix the bill, and turn up the heat on senators who might be tempted to side with Big Oil and Coal?

Click to vote:

"Yes. Let's fight to save the Clean Air Act and fix the energy bill."
"No. I don't think we should do that." (And tell us why.)
We'll go forward if 2/3 of us who vote think it makes sense.

I don't know if I'd call it a "loophole" they added it after GE Capitol didn't initially qualify. If GE's getting help from TARP they should have to abide by the same rules (stress test and regulation) as the banks.

A 1998 letter, signed by Lay and a few other bigwigs asked President Clinton, in essence, to harm the reputations and credibility of scientists who argued that global warming was an overblown issue, because these individuals were standing in Enron’s way. The letter, dated Sept. 1, asked the president to shut off the public scientific debate on global warming, which continues to this date. ”Enron stood to profit millions from global warming energy-trading schemes,”
Enron, along with other key energy companies in the so-called Clean Power Group – El Paso Corp., NiSource, Trigen Energy, and Calpine – would make money both coming and going – from selling permits and then their own energy at higher prices. If Cap & Trade was ratified and in full force, experts estimated that Americans would lose between $100 billion and $400 billion each year. Additionally, between 1 and 3.5 million jobs could be lost. That means that each household could lose an average of up to $6,000 each year. That is a lot to ask of Americans just so large energy companies can pocket millions from a regulatory scheme. Moreover, a cost of $400 billion annually makes Enron’s current one-time loss of $6 billion look like pocket change. Now it’s GE’s turn at bat.

America's largest companies, including GM and GE, used to make money by developing products and educating consumers about their benefits. But for many corporate behemoths, the business model has changed. Now all they do is lobby the government for special treatment.

Don't get too flummoxed, big. The Obama administration said and did nothing about GE's windfall until the matter became public. I suspect that after some cosmetic "reforms" GE will continue to feed at the public trough, and msnbc will continue to spread the word about Obama's magnificence.

In the early 1990s Enron had helped establish the market for, and became the major trader in, EPA’s $20 billion-per-year sulphur dioxide cap-and-trade program, the forerunner of today’s proposed carbon credit trade. This commodity exchange of emission allowances caused Enron’s stock to rise.
Then came the inevitable question, what next? How about a carbon dioxide cap-and-trade program? The problem was that CO2 is not a pollutant, and therefore the EPA had no authority to cap its emission. Al Gore took office in 1993 and almost immediately became infatuated with the idea of an international environmental regulatory regime. Under law a tradeable system was required, which was exactly what Enron also wanted because they were already trading pollutant credits. Enron philanthropists lavished almost $1.5 million on environmental groups that support international energy controls to “reduce” global warming. Executives at Enron worked closely with the Clinton administration to help create a scaremongering climate science environment because the company believed the treaty could provide it with a monstrous financial windfall. The plan was that once the problem was in place the solution would be trotted out. With clever positioning and anticipation Enron had bought the world’s biggest wind power company, GE Wind, from General Electric.
Enron then started to finance everything related to the global warming hype, including grants to scientists – but asking for results favorable to their interest – “proof” that humans were responsible for excessive emissions of CO2 through fossil fuel burning.

Obama wants to be re-elected in 2012. He cannot do that without NBC in his back pocket. This is nothing new, and the business dealings of GE and Immelt have been widely reported by non-GE owned cable news programs for months. I'm sure Immelt is foaming at the mouth for Cap'nTax.

Even if your premise was valid, if the networks are soooo importatnt. why didn't Faux get McCain elected? They certainly tried hard enough. They DID have plenty of help from CNN AND MSNBC/NBC as well. I don't recall them slacking on the Rev. Wright, all-Ayers-all-the-time videos and commentary.. How you get pro-liberal out of any of that is beyond me.

This makes sense as their networks continue to support the administration. MSNBC and NBC are not attracting viewers but they support the president and the corporate parent can offset their expense with governments deals like this. Smart corporate activity.
