Exercise helps for depression, too. With addicts and alcoholics, involvement with a healthy activity and interaction with others engaging in that activity are both likely to decrease the chances of relapse and increase connections to people and things outside their addiction patterns. However, an addict is likely to have problems with moderation with exercise, with a tendency to overdo activity, resulting in injury or burn out. Others that have faced this issue successfully can help the newer members of the group.
