Iphone App

Inc.com:

Owen Voorhees may seem like an unlikely tech entrepreneur because he's just 11-years old. But for the last nine months he climbed a mountain of doubt, overcame unfamiliar programming languages and poured over college level computer science textbooks--all to develop his very own iPhone application. Last month, his app, MathTime, debuted in the App Store and quickly rose to No. 13 in the paid, educational apps section.

Being a Computer Analyst/Programmer myself, I think this is cool that they developed the app at such a young age. They should be congratulated not ridiculed like some of you are doing on this forum.

Every positive story always draws conservatives and their negativism. They can't stand anything positive. They're born h a t e r s.

Folks, this is the future of America...don't knock these children and their initiative by saying they're are obviously rich or they would not have iphones. Instead celebrate that even with advantages they might have had, they still were not satisfied with being spoon fed others inventions, but rather saw the iphone as a challenge to their own creativity. Their work should be honored. They did something new with what they had...that is the important element of this story. Who knows how this success might lead to some really important invention by one of them that could save your life some day. I love this story and say to these children:
"Do all the good you can,
By all the means you can
In all the ways you can,At all the times you can,
To all the people you can,
As long as ever you can" (John Wesley)
And keep on inventing with that in mind and make a difference where and when you can.

How is it that so many of you people turn this into something negative? That is the draw back of comment boards. People use them as a way to express their general unhappiness even when it has absolutely nothing to do with the story.

Applaud the smart hardworking kid. He is probably more on top of things than most of us when we were children. I can only speculate that those who have to knock him or what he did are merely jelious.

Why does an 11 year old have an iphone? Quit spoiling these kids!

The iphone to them is just like the Rubik's Cube to you. Only without all the parts.

How wonderful to see two young men who are encouraged by their father to fulfill their potentials. Too many children are limited by their school systems and parents, never receiving encouragement.

Obviously this is a wealthy family. It made me very sad to think how many Americans can NOT afford a Iphone. Their children would never have the opportunity to even think up something like this. Not to mention get a hold of the tech books necessary to figure out how to do it.
