GENEVA — Television host Jay Leno has won control of a Web address using the name of his new show.

The U.N.'s World Intellectual Property Organization says current owner Guadalupe Zambrano of Katy, Texas, will have to transfer the domain name _ thejaylenoshow.com _ to the comedian.

The agency says Zambrano failed to demonstrate he had a legitimate reason for registering the address five years ago while Leno was still hosting "The Tonight Show."

Zambrano used the site to redirect Web surfers to his real estate business.

"The Jay Leno Show" premieres Sept. 14 on NBC.

What is hard to believe is that celebrities esp in Hollywood haven't stepped up to the plate to cover the expenses that the MJ Memorial will cost the city of LA. Where are all the well paid Movie stars, music, politicians ect... in California. What about your fans ? It will bring nothing but goodwill to step-up and donate to cover the cost involved. Contact the news outlets. They will publish your name and probably your up and coming projects. 1.4 million fans willing to spend hard earned money to attend the service. How symbolic to the Jackson family and fans, when our economy is in the tank. This is your industry, you all love MJ as much as the every day people, you are in a position to make a difference.

This kind of thing has happened from the beginning, not always for the best.

A Madonna fan lost madonna.comm" in the late 90's after she sued him for it and he didn't want to give it up. Nissan Motors has been constantly suing a computer company called Nissan for nissan.com.

so how come Bill Clinton lost his fight to gain the rights of domain names with his name it? http://domainnamewire.com/2009/06/02/bill-clinton-loses-domain-name-challenge/

That real estate guy really sounds like a person you would want to do business with. I bet he was trying to shake down Leno for big bucks. Its nice to hear a story where common sense is applied via our legal system.

Domain name disputes are not really part of our legal system. When you register a domain name, you agree that any disputes regarding the use or name will controlled by the rules set out by ICANN, which controls naming. There are several arbitration organizations that handle these disputes for ICANN, including WIPO.

Because of the arbitration clause in your domain registration agreement, if you did file a complaint in state or federal court, the defendant could move to have the case tossed out and would succeed in doing so.
